Maxine's

BERJAYA I posted some pictures of a building in Trenton New Jersey on my Something Sighted blog. That got me thinking about Trenton and since it's not too far away I went there today for about an hour and took a few more pictures.
I don't know anything about this building but it seems like it could be a night club.

I can imagine this place 50 years ago filled with well dressed people smoking and drinking while listening to jazz that was smoother than honey and cooler than the ice in their drinks.
That's probably far from the real story but it's fun to imagine.

Old Fashioned Train Ride

An old train coming into the station on a cold rainy day............... Sepia vs -

The conductor preparing for another ride. Do see the pumpkins and the brick building reflections?
BERJAYA All aboard again. Last week I discovered and posted about the New Hope Railroad.
On Saturday Vicki and I drove to New Hope for the "Hourly Excursion" train ride. Which is a ride in an old coal powered train. A round trip lasts just under an hour, and the people who ran the train were dressed in early 20th century railroad uniforms. The leisurely ride was narrated by one of the conductors. It rained the whole time but that and the cold weather just added to the coziness. It's hard to get good pictures from a moving train, but I did get some ideas for a future photo trip.

My World Tuesday is a fun way to show what is going on in your world and it's one of my favorite memes.

Monochrome Weekly is another favorite and is a great way for an amateur like me to practice my monochrome pictures.

Black and White, Focus and Blur

BERJAYA This is my Monochrome Weekly photo.
I took this picture next to the little house in my last post.
I think Sunny is right about it being used for storage because there aren't any windows. I could be wrong but I think it was used by an old farmer's in the 1700's.

There are some ruins and a plaque close to it. This is some of what the plaque says.

"This is Mathias Weisner's original farmhouse which dates back to the late 1700's. After a fight between the English Anglicans and the Dutch Lutherans, the Dutch moved down into the Delaware Valley from Rhode Island."

It went on to give the names of some farming families and said the land used to be a farm.
The original farmhouse burned down and was excavated by boy scouts. The land is now a 9-11 reflection memorial park, and a memorial to "the Ductch farmers who founded and farmed the land during the colonial period".

About a mile from this place I found a large horse stable that is over 200 yrs old and no longer used. I'll post pictures in the future.

William Penn and his Pigeons

BERJAYAFriday I spent the day in Philadelphia and Saturday I spent the day in Manhattan mostly in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This picture was taken Friday in Philadelphia's Penn Treaty park. This is the top part of a statue of William Penn the founder of Pennsylvania.
I'm still going through a black & white phase so Voila.
Now I would like to give some information about the sculpture in the middle picture of my previous post.
It's called "Social Consciousness" and it was created in 1954 by Jacob Epstein . It's located near the back door of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
His works can also be found in England, France and other places.

A Coke and a Smile

BERJAYA
BERJAYA BERJAYA I've decided to stay in the town of Bristol and post a few different pictures of the same mural. One for the Monochrome Weekly Theme and the other for Mellow Yellow Monday. I guess I could get greedy and add Ruby Tuesday. This mural is just around the corner from our sleeping barber friend that I posted the other day. To me this mural just adds to the old fashioned feel of this historic part of town.
