I swear the weather does not want me to have kids next year. After my work to get the boys and girls mixed for three days to try and have a long weekend of kidding at the end of April, I was really disappointed how things went.
I knew Chiffon had just been in heat, but she was still kind of flirty with the boys, so I put her with Gabe. I’m not sure anything happened or if she was too far into her heat cycle to settle if he did breed her. I’ll just have to wait and see with her.
I waited for them to come into heat on the three days it should have been crazy, but I saw almost nothing. I mean, I did see Gabe with Antigone one morning. But that was it for Gabe.
But I had Frodo and his girls on the Back Forty and I was at work and the days are really short. I hardly saw them. Then the weather turned cold and horrible with the snow and wind. I really didn’t see them. But Monday after work I came home to find Frodo frantically chasing Penelope around the barnyard. That’s one girl for him!
The final morning they were together, I came out in the dark to milk and heard Frodo blubbering, so I tried to see who he was blubbering over–I saw Pluto. The wether moved, and I think it was Aphrodite.
But that’s it. And I never saw 2TC or Rosie come into heat with their boys.
Zora was back with BJ. I saw him acting like he liked her one day, but it was pretty questionable. So I’m not sure what’s going on with Zora. I’ll just have to wait and see.
I’m not sure what delayed them coming back into heat, but it was not the frenzy of girls coming into heat that I had hoped it would be. And of course, about the day after I separated them, the girls started coming into heat.
