Yakama Cowgirl~~~~~MOnday Mural

BERJAYA
Mural in Toppenish, Wa.  Home of over 70 murals dipicting the life and times of the town.
Women like Ruth Parton helped put Toppenish on the map in the early days with feats depicted in this mural of several panels painted by Lesa Delisi of Cashmere, Washington. Parton rode broncos, performed as a trick rider, and rode relay races at rodeos around the country. She was also inducted into the Cowgirl Hall of Fame. The mural is located on the United Telephone Co. building at Washington and Alder.

Ruth Parton Webster

1988 Cowgirl Honoree – Washington

Description: http://www.cowgirl.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/Ruth-Parton-Webster-240x300.jpg

(1895-1978)

Called the “Mother of Thoroughbred Racing,” Ruth began racing thoroughbreds on the Yakima Reservation in Washington when she was thirteen. Her successes on the track led to rodeo appearances, and to the sport of relay racing. With six fast Canadian fillies, Ruth brought her winning abilities to the pony-express style races, soon earning the title of World’s Champion Woman Relay Racer. She trained and raced thoroughbreds in Canada and Mexico before retiring in 1929.

Monday Murals

BERJAYA
Governor Stevens of the Washington Territory sat down with several northwestern Indian chiefs to sign the far-reaching Treaty of 1855. In this mural in downtown Toppenish near the post office, the Indians
were represented by Chief Kamiakin of the Yakamas. It was painted in May of 1992 by Roger Cooke of Sandy, Oregon.
This mural is one of over 70 in Toppenish Wa. depicting the life and times of that area in Washington.

Trumpeter Swan for Wild Bird Wednesday

The trumpeter swans are back in Skagit County for their winter pass-through. One of the county’s signature winter birds, trumpeters are known to migrate through the north Puget Sound this time of year, coming south from areas in western Canada and Alaska.
Trumpeter swans are the largest North American waterfowl.

BERJAYA
The Swan along with the Tundra Swan which are similar but smaller arrive in October and November and leave to head for the far North by Mid- March

BERJAYA
They flock to farmers fields mainly harvested corn fields.  One seldom sees them looking graceful floating in the water.

BERJAYA
They are just eating to fatten up for the long trip home and breeding.

Flap them feathers over to Stewart's  http://paying-ready-attention-gallery.blogspot.com/ to many worthy birds.

Monday's Murals

BERJAYA
This is one of the over 70 murals in Toppenish Washington showcasing the history of the city.

Incorporated in 1907, the City of Toppenish is located in Central Washington and is situated about 20 miles southeast of the City of Yakima.  The City covers approximately two square miles and has a population of 9,000 residents.

The City of Toppenish has preserved its beginnings as a rugged western town through restoration and beautification efforts that make it a popular tourist attraction

today.  At the heart of the City and its beautification are over 70 outdoor, historical murals.  They tell the story of early development of the City of Toppenish, and its rich history and cultural diversity.

Nov.21st Sunrise ~~~~~~~Sky Watch

A beautiful sunrise this morning.  It was at 7am and the temp was a frosty 20degrees F.   It was a beautiful  blue sky and lots of sun.  Of course it didn't warm up much past 40F but we got some work done outside.  I love this snappy weather.  Right now we have a little over 8 hrs of sunlight or daylight.  The sun is low in the sky all day and it looks weird that way, but it is better than gloomy gray and rain.  I be smilin'.

BERJAYA
My computer still isn't working right so I am going to shut it down for awhile.  I may not get around to everybody but I will be back.  Be good!!
