Charlie Brown's Teacher?

BERJAYA

BERJAYA
Sweet B made this when she was quite small. I love that she put glasses on him like she wears

BERJAYA
I picked up the turkey last week thrifting he is old chalkware and was only 1.00. I also made some pomanders.
BERJAYA
I haven't  made these in years. And they smell great!
BERJAYA
We had a lot of warning about the up coming storm. My brother was coming from 6 hrs away. I contacted him to let him know about the snow. He just moved back from Mississippi and hasn't driven on snow in years.  Well no big deal he would still come Wed.  You guessed it he called to inform me it was snowy and slippery!!! My husband had an appointment for his truck. I thought we should drop the truck the night before. Nope and he couldn't get out of the driveway to get his truck there!!! So when I talk Do I sound like Charlie Brown's teacher?? I do think that sme lessons were learned.
Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Thrifting With a Friend

BERJAYA
The winter sunrises are starting to be beautiful!

BERJAYA
I teamed up with my friend Cathy and we thrifted until we dropped lol. Starting with a pie bird and a tiny angel with a plaid runner all I will use in my Christmas baking and decorating.

BERJAYA
A pair of vintage spun cotton snow people.
2.00 yes please!

BERJAYA
I had been looking all over for mini cookie cutters no luck.
I walk into a thrift store and voila a brand-new unopened pack of them for 1.00!

BERJAYA
I truly will not go into everything I found but this was the topping to it all. These new very large lanterns! I have Christmas plans for these when we have our parties. And believe it or not I also found a brand-new pair of coach driving loafers for my daughter! She was thrilled!

BERJAYA
On Thursday husband and I decided to go out and about for the day. We headed to Vermont and King Arthur Flour Co. We had a lovely lunch and shopped a lot! I am all stocked up for holiday baking.

BERJAYA
From there we decided to drive to Woodstock Vermont. It is the loveliest town; I love shopping their Main St. and just looking at the beautiful homes. They also have a Paul Rever bell there!

BERJAYA
Ok 3 days of shopping thrifting and lunching and it is time to be home and finish decorating. The other thing my sweet thrifting friend and I did was go tramping through the mud and yuck for the elusive red berries we all love for our Christmas decorating. We filled the back of her Subaru, some for her, some for me, and some for her sister-in-law. If you purchase them, they are crazy expensive.
This cone is wood and grew on a tree somewhere. I purchased it at an antique store many years ago for 12.00 one of my Favorite purchases. I goes on my door for a lot of different holidays.

BERJAYA
While digging out some Christmas decorations I found this Good House Keeping magazine 1970 I was 13.

BERJAYA
I have laughed so much at this magazine. Some of it does not stand the test of time lol.
Wonderful men's gifts

BERJAYA
And wonderful women's gifts. I especially like the door mat lol.
I am going to pass it on to my daughter as there are such fun things in there.

BERJAYA
I will end here. As I have said before most every day there are 4 of us who message each other on a group chat. Well one of my sweet friends made bread and you guessed it we all ended up making bread in the next few days lol. This is the no knead recipe and I added a mix of Italian herbs. And I have to say pretty tasty.
I do want to touch on the New England brown bread. It is a recipe I looked up online it has rye flour, whole wheat flour, corn meal, and molasses and I put in raisins. I do not know if it is eaten outside of New England. My father's mother used it serve it to us and I loved it. It came in a can (you could buy it in the can), and I baked mine in a can.

Have a wonderful week!

To Early?

BERJAYA
I made some gingerbread muffins from a new recipe, and it is not a keeper a bit to dry. But eatable we are having them with coffee in the morning.

BERJAYA
I was gifted a very old woolen blanket. She estimates it is at least 100 years old. It is lovely but in tough shape. I have grand plans for this! More on that later. It is light weight enough to hook with.  I ran it through the washer and dryer, and it tightened up and is lovely and soft.

BERJAYA
I foraged for some greens and made a bit of roping.

BERJAYA
I am trying to get the outside decorated before the really cold weather comes. Tomorrow is supposed to be 50's very warm for us.

BERJAYA
I set up my large tree today. This poor tree hasn't seen the light of day in several years. Just never had the energy when I worked. We had to get a fake tree because daughter was allergic to a real tree. (It took us a few years to figure out why she was sick every Christmas) And now I really don't mind.
This is also the first year I have put up the tree before Thanksgiving.
I want to host a few holiday parties, so I am getting in the mood early.
****
I went to the fiber group, there were only 3 of us but all of us were hooking. There were a couple of more that didn't come because they were sick. I will give it a few more tries to see if it is worth the trip for me.
Have a wonderful week!

Wonderful Rugs!

 BERJAYA
Today we had to drive north to meet our daughter and return her dog.
She and her family were able to get away with friends and we babysat the dog. As you can see, we have snow on the mountain tops.

BERJAYA

I got up early took a walk and raked a bit then I have spent the afternoon making roping with the dried oranges and apples.
I wrapped some twinkle lights round them after and voila pretty cute!

lBERJAYA
I also tried making this little lantern. It is a bit wonky but sweet all the same I may try to make another one.
****
Ok are you ready? I went to the fairy tales rug show and what a show it was!!!

BERJAYA
I did not get all the information on each rug but just click on them and enjoy!!!
BERJAYA
And each rug was better than the last one. And this is just a sampling not every rug.

BERJAYA
They are taken from old illustrations.

Thursday, I had my friend's thanksgiving there were about 14 of us that gathered, and the surprise was a visit from a very long-time friend who moved away and came back to join us.
I decided to make New England Brown Bread.

BERJAYA
I was given the hint to use the crockpot with water in it and it worked great!!! and oh, my it was tasty and a big hit at the friends gathering.

BERJAYA
Last night after I got home and relaxed from the past few days.
I was overwhelmed with the amazing blessings I have. And what a wonderful few days I have had.

A Moose In My Mug?

BERJAYA
I grabbed my coffee and yogurt sat down and started laughing.
I have heard of reading your tea leaves but what does a moose in your coffee mean?

BERJAYA
I dug out my dehydrator and sliced up some oranges.

BERJAYA
I have grand plans to make a roping for my kitchen for the holidays.
BERJAYA
I am working on this bunny rug, and I can never leave well enough alone, so I am changing a few things.

BERJAYA
Speaking of patterns, I got my patterns I ordered at rug school by Michelle Palmer. Winter projects who knows? I have such a brain full of ideas phew who knows what will spill out.

BERJAYA
It is the season in between I am using Christmas mugs
and I have my Thanksgiving rug out. I am looking forward to decorating this year I will have the time hopefully the energy.

The rolls I made in the last post are from King Arthur Flour

The fiber group meets next week. My friend's thanksgiving is tomorrow night. I am going to make an attempt at making New England Brown Bread to take. It is cooked by steaming.
And plans are being made to go to see the fairy tale rugs this weekend.
Have a great week!!!

Getting Ready For Winter

BERJAYA
I was sick with covid for about 3 days, 2 of those days I ran a pretty good fever the 3rd I was just stuffy and tired. But I am back on my feet and back at it. Yesterday I helped husband bring in a cord of our winter wood. We usually burn about 2 cords we use it only in the evenings for a few hours.

BERJAYA
I made milk bread rolls. I had some milk that was just past its good date, and they came out so good!

BERJAYA
The weather the past few days has been wonderful I spent today stacking wood in our wood box on our porch for our fireplace and filling my bucket before the soil freezes and I am out of luck.

BERJAYA
Sweeping up the porch and getting it ready for decorations for the holidays. Lots more to do there but I did what I could on this nice day.

BERJAYA
When I was cleaning up my rug hooking room, I found a project I started years ago. Well, they are finished I did 2 of them for my daughter to put on the head chairs at her table.
****
I had a terrible case of insomnia last night I just could not settle to sleep. I have not taken anything but Tylen during covid to cause this so not sure what is going on. I did lay in bed and listen to military jets fly over and they have been flying around here all day.
They train in our mountains a friend in Vermont said they are over where she is too. Makes me a bit nervous with the way the world is right now.
****
I have a couple of fun things planned this week my women's group are meeting for our annual Thanksgiving always so fun and tasty.
I am hoping to get to a rug show of the fairy tale rugs and to visit a new fiber group.
Have a wonderful week.
