Late August in my Yard

It's nice when a Carolina Wren poses for me, but this one looked disheveled. Perhaps it had been bathing like the two birds below.

Recently I made a blog book for the first half of 2022 (using Blog2Print) and I realized I did not have any pictures of me in front of my house. So I took one for the next volume by setting the timer on a camera and walking away, and then turning around before the shutter clicked. Instead of bothering with a tripod, I had placed the camera on my mailbox.

In order to end this post with something pretty, I'm sharing a butterfly on coreopsis. There is plenty of coreopsis along with zinnias in my front yard garden. The previous owner grew flowers there and I am carrying on the tradition.

Dog and Butterflies

BERJAYA

Since I was busy posting pictures from my trip, I almost missed Eileen’s critter blog hop and Athena's digital one. So here is Nala, a digitized dog from Pittsburgh. She is part of my nephew’s family.
On my way to Pittsburgh, I made a brief stop at Cacapon State Park to eat my lunch. I was pleased to see some new artwork outside the Nature Center.

Mosaic Monday / Murals

The mural is a lovely mosaic of butterflies. There's a pollinator garden in front of the building and I found a butterfly, even though I only stopped there for a few minutes.

Six More Snapshots from Pennsylvania

Once I made it to Pittsburgh, my sister did all the driving.

Sophia is learning cheerleading and demonstrated how to get up on her dad’sshoulders. And her brother insisted on trying it.

I took another picture of Peggy using portrait mode and then changed the adjustments using my Photos app. My iPhone impresses me.

At the end of my visit, I left later than I intended, and then didn't drive straight home because I like viewing scenery and taking pictures. The pretty church is Unity United Church of Christ near the town of Berlin.

I stayed with my sister in Penn Hills and she took me to see the incline and the views at Duquesne Heights. The cable cars go up and down a steep slope on 5-foot wide tracks. Originally constructed in 1877, the system serves both commuters and tourists.

I just got back from Pittsburgh.

BERJAYA
On Tuesday I drove up to Pittsburgh to visit my sister who was there to see her children and grandchildren. I took many pictures but I am tired so I’m only going to post a few of them tonight.

Pennsylvania is a pretty state but I don't like the roads. Many of them are old and need repairs, including the Pennsylvania Turnpike. Roads in the Pittsburgh area are convoluted because they have to go around hills and rivers.

BERJAYA

My sister Peggy currently lives in Kentucky but her family is in Pittsburgh. We spent an evening with her son Elias and his family.

Spending time with family is special. Don’t be shy about asking them to pose.

Colorful Harrisonburg

JMU's Arboretum has always been pretty but they have added some features and the flowers are in full bloom. It looks fantastic!

In downtown Harrisonburg, I found a mural and this one is a mosaic. The sun looking over a mountain reminds us that there are mountains to the east and west of the city.

Meeting by the White Barn

Last Saturday I attended a public meeting at Seven Bends State Park. Members of our committee and Ranger Megan gave updates on progress at the park, which is still being developed.

I took a few pictures in portrait mode. The photos of Juli and Megan turned out well.

A butterfly landed on my car window.

This I believe: Although people have their differences, there are always things that we can agree upon. Whether we agree on recreation, clean rivers, saving butterflies, or helping lost pets, we can work together and get things done.
