Joining with Stewart's
Wild Bird Wednesday and later Anni's
Bird d'Pot with another baby magpie encounter....
I walked out to go to the car which is normally in the garage, but I had it parked outside on this day. And what should I find by the rear wheels, but two baby magpies!
| Mom was keeping an eye on them, and convinced one to move toward her. But the other little guy stayed by the car.... |
| Afraid he would get under the wheels, I chased him in the direction of his family.... |
| I discovered there were three of the little ones, one perched on a planter.... |
| Two others were on low tree limbs |
| Mom kept a close eye on them from the topmost branch of the juniper |
| The little guy who had perched on the planter now hopped around by our front steps. It didn't seem like he could fly as well as the other two. |
| So adorable!!!! |
| Many of you commented on how "bad" magpies are, like crows, and yes they do some things that are not particularly nice to songbirds. But, I still enjoy them, and wished this little family well. I know how intelligent they are, like crows, ravens and starlings...they can even learn to mimic people talking, like parrots and cockatoos. |
| Mom gathered her babies to her and moved on to the edge of the yard |
What a delightful experience this was!
