Psalm 19:1--The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament showeth his handywork.

I wish to apologize to anyone who may be having trouble making comments on my posts. I appreciate your visit so much, and wish I could read what you have to say, but something is going on with my computer, and until I can get the issue addressed, this may continue. Please keep visiting! Also, often I cannot make a comment on some posts I look at, particularly those who ask for me to show I am a guest. I have noticed sometimes someone can only comment in the "Reply" section of another comment...if that's all that works, then that's fine! Let's keep visiting no matter what happens, and know we are touching each other with our creativity and thoughts and images even when we can't get (or leave) feedback. God bless you my dear blogger friends!

I Never Said Goodbye!

OK, I am rotten for abandoning my blog almost a year ago and never saying why.  First of all, I am fine!   Secondly, if you used to follow me may I suggest you follow Accidentally Aging which is Mom's new blog.  You can find it on my blog list on my sidebar.  I check back here now and then to link in to Mom's.  Just haven't been posting.  I've gotten into Instagram these days.  If you have IG and want to follow me there, my name on it is Writrpaintr.  Hope you are all doing well!   Have a blessed Thanksgiving!  Enjoy this photo I took this summer when we went boating with the family on Lake Billy Chinook...that's Mt. Jefferson in view.

Thankful for Cousin

Joining Michelle's Thankful Thursday....

We are hundreds of miles away from our old home grounds...hundreds!   I was originally born in Alabama.  My mother's Dad was killed before she was born, and so she never knew many of that side of her family.  Consequently, I knew even less.  It didn't help much that Dad was in the Navy and we moved all over the country while I was growing up.  Now, making our home in Oregon, my husband and I heard from my Mom that I had a cousin living in Vancouver Washington (which is just outside of Portland, OR for those who don't know.)   Then a few months back she told me my cousin and family had moved to within 30 miles of us!  Well, we connected on facebook, and back in early January she and I had lunch and got to know one another!   Her grandmother was my grandfather's sister.  We had never met before but really hit it off!  I am thankful today to have some of my extended family within reach! (We also have a nephew who recently got a job in San Francisco, and although that isn't THAT close, he is within much easier distance from his NY home!   We will probably get to see him as well!)

Have plans to get together often with Cynthia and her husband!  Uh...you can't tell we are related, can you? :-) (And, no, we didn't coordinate our outfits on purpose! :-) )

New Memory Card!

OK, I have been absent a LOT! :-)   I know.  My first problem was I filled up the memory card in my camera, but yes, I have also been in a weird mood since before Christmas about doing photos and posting them.  Just haven't been "with it!"  So...bought a new memory card the other day and have 2000 photos to take! :-)   So I know I better get with it.  Just a few of shots taken with my phone during the interim, for Mersad's Through My Lens this morning....

Water Trough

I haven't joined in with Stewart's Wild Bird Wednesday in weeks!   Frankly, I just haven't had any bird pictures to share.  But today I want to show you this interesting thing that I saw happening out our back window...

I'd be sitting in my chair by the window and kept seeing birds flying over to our roofline.  Sometimes there would be four to six bird tails sticking out like this one, and I couldn't imagine what they were doing!  I wish I could have made a picture of several of them lined up.  At first they were robins (who are here often because of our abundance of juniper berries) but then I started seeing some of the smaller birds doing it, like chickadees.

Finally I figured it out...they were drinking water out of the gutter on the roof!  :-)  It is a nice little watering trough just for them.

Thankful

Well, I know you all thought I'd dropped off the face of the earth!   But, I sure wanted to ring in this new year with some thankful thoughts!  So I am joining Michelle's Thankful Thursday today with the following:

BERJAYA

We just rang in 2019, and on the 1st day of January began a new year and I bet we are all hopeful for this year to be a really good one.  It's the way we start the new year.  On the 2nd I celebrated a birthday so I have that extra push of hopefulness associated with getting a year older.  I am thankful for all the many blessings God has given me, as I look to this bright new beginning.

God is so good! I have some great memories of times past, and wonderful friends I have made over the years, and a household of siblings I cherish.  I have my precious husband, Russell, who I love with all my heart, who has almost left this world more than once, but God has given us more time together.  Oh how grateful I am for every single day!   I am grateful for my beautiful family...my precious daughter, son-in-law and grandson, who give me such amazing joy!   I am so proud of all of them!  I am grateful to have had incredible parents who raised me, and still have my amazing Mom to share things with.  She is just such a precious part of my life!  I am thankful that though I have some health issues, none are devastating or debilitating to a great degree.  I am relatively healthy.  I am thankful I can write and paint and quilt and take photos and get out and see things and do things I want to do!  I am thankful God has provided us a home, and given us all our worldly needs.  I am thankful that Jesus died for me, and that I am God's child and will one day go to be with Him.  Yes, I thankfully and with joy begin this new year set in front of me!  And if anything painful, sad or difficult lies ahead, I know He will be with me, holding my hand to see me through, and that's the greatest blessing of all, knowing you never have to do it alone!

May you each have a very blessed 2019!
