The Cat On My Head

OUR FINAL PORTRAIT SELFIE

Sunday Selfies: Week #483

This week Sawyer is your host for Sunday Selfies. It is the final photo in our 2023 portrait series.

Portrait selfie: A green-eyed, grey tabby cat portrait.

Every one of the Kitties Blue had a killer portrait, but in all honesty, Sawyer’s is my favorite. I love this little guy so much, especially as we were so fortunate to get him back after his three-and-a-half week, unauthorized walkabout. He does, however, challenge my patience. He has been eating very poorly for several days—turning his nose up at whatever we present to him. We know a seizure is imminent, and it hurts my heart whenever Sawyer has to go through one. He’d appreciate some prayers and encouragement.

Next Saturday is Sawyer’s sixth gotcha day, so he’ll be back then and hopes you will come celebrate with him.

Please Hop With Sawyer

BERJAYASawyer and I are both hoping you’ll join him today. All your other friends will be here looking for you as well. Get those selfies posed, snapped and posted early. Then you will have the entire day to take your easy with your humans and maybe a nice, sunpuddle nap as well.

Thanks for joining us today. We truly appreciate your friendship and support.

GINGER TABBY CAT RANT

Caturday Art

ginger tabby cat rant: colorful photo of a ginger cat in a multi-colored, sparkly, circular frame.

This may be pretty art, but I’m certain you noticed the “someone peed in my Cheerios” expression on my face. Here it is, almost 11 a.m. on Caturday morning, and the typist is just putting this post together. That is nearly 11 hours missed when you could have been gazing upon my handsomeness.

The humans went out again last night. That is the third time in just eight days. The typist thought she’d get home in time to finish this post, but she must have been dreaming. You may have noticed that I said, “the humans.” I would have said, “my humans,” but surely these galavanting people cannot be the same ones who normally are here 24/7 to cater to my every need and desire. I think they have been replaced by these alien gadabouts.

There is a rumor going around among my fursibs that these very same lackluster excuse for parents will be taking off again soon to eat turkey with dogs.

Dear Cat God, If you can hear me, please, oh please bring my humans back home where they behave as good cat parents should. Wait…what? The treat lady is going to replace them when they are away eating with dogs! Oh, that’s meowvolously fantastic news. A few days with none of those stupid treat puzzles, but just good old spoiling like we deserve. Yours truly, Cooper Murphy

I am going to purr really hard while the treat lady is here, that the humans who return are the ones we know and love…the ones who no nothing about treat puzzles and stay at home where they belong.

Purrs and paw pats, Cooper Murphy

p.s. At least the human masquerading as my mom knew enough to create a puzzle for you. Hope you enjoy it.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

BERJAYAIt’s time once again to get spiffed up and share your adorableness with all your admiring friends. Tomorrow’s selfie host will be the one cat who has not shared his new portrait with you. If you have been paying attention each week, you will know which of the boys that is.

I can assure you, that post will appear at midnight EST. Regardless of what Cooper Murphy told you, neither of his humans have been replaced by aliens. But, you don’t need to tell him that. I like keeping him guessing.

Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow.

NO SPACE TO SNOOZE

Feline Friday

no space to snooze: Ginger tabby cat and torbie cat together snoozing in a blue chair with a pale ginger tabby cat snoozing underneath.

Raleigh has shredded the fabric from the bottom of all the chairs in the living room. Cooper Murphy took Raleigh’s spot in the chair with Audrey and left him no space to snooze. So, Raleigh ended up sleeping on the fabric he’d pulled down before I totally removed it.

The boys and Audrey will be participating in the Feline Friday blog hop hosted by messymimi’s meanderings. If you’d like to do the same, click on the badge below.

I apologize for not doing the Friendly Fill-Ins this week. I just couldn’t come up with completions, and the sentences really weren’t ones the kitties could take over for me.

Kitties Blue and I truly appreciate that you came to see us today. We will be back tomorrow with some Caturday Art.

C.J.’S VET VISIT & A POEM OF LOVE

Thankful Thursday

Each Thursday, the kitties and I like to share things for which we are thankful. Voicing gratitude is important in order to keep a positive outlook on life.

This week I am thankful that our wonderful vet, Dr. Neel, recommended Dr. McBane as her replacement. Calista Jo and I had an appointment with her yesterday. She is thorough, friendly and kind, and I really like her. Unfortunately C.J. was not pleased with being in the PTU or traveling in the car. I was nearly deaf from all the meyowling and caterwauling there and back.

She was mostly well behaved while we were in the exam room, as she did a lot of self-soothing purring.

Calista Jo may have eosinophilic granuloma. She received an antibiotic injection and will be on steroids for the next three weeks.

I got several photos of her while she was quiet. Unfortunately, I cut the tips of her ears off in the best one.

C.J. vet visit: Large dilute tortoise shell cat lying on a pick towel.

I also am thankful Dad Tom and I were able to attend two concerts this past week. The first featured Cote Deonath, The Ultimate Elvis, which Periwinkle & Stinky shared with you on their adventure. If you missed that, click on the link in the previous sentence. We also attended a wonderful concert by Graham Nash.

As always, Kitties Blue and I appreciate your friendship, support and comments.

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Each week our dear friends, Teddy and Angel Sammy, (Two Spoiled Cats) share an inspiration photo with the hope that some of their followers will write a poem about it. This week’s photo is totally precious. It looks so much like our Cooper Murphy and Lisbeth; though, we would never find the two of them in a such an embrace.

An orange tabby cat and a tuxedo cat embracing with the tuxie cat bathing the tabby.

Love’s Embrace

Love is not partial to any gender
or species. It is universal and meant
to be shared. A smile, warm hug, kind word—
each has its place and time; is
appreciated and reciprocated if the
heart is pure, the intention true.

© Janet Buickerood Blue – 11/15/2023

This poem is definitely unfinished, but I have been unable to bring it to a satisfactory conclusion. If I can complete it, I will share it again in a future post.

BERJAYAEach week Angel Sammy transmits his poem from the Rainbow Bridge to Teddy for publication. He is a masterful poet, and his weekly creation is always worth reading. Pop on over to Two Spoiled Cats, by clicking on the poetry badge, to check out Sammy’s poem and get the photo for next week’s challenge.

Thanks for joining us today. The kitties and I will be back tomorrow with some Fill-ins.

THE ADVENTURES OF PERIWINKLE & STINKY: PART CCX

Date Night

Stinky was waiting by the teleportation tunnel for Periwinkle. It was late Friday afternoon, four days early for their adventure. He bounced from paw to paw in excitement. He couldn’t believe what he and Periwinkle were going to do thanks to his mom. As he hopped around the foyer, he heard the familiar whoosh from the tunnel. Periwinkle popped out and into his waiting paws. He was delighted to see that Mom Sharon had told her what to wear for their date.

After a few whisker kisses, Periwinkle asked her usual question along with a couple of others, “So, Stinky what is on the agenda for tonight? Why am I here four days earlier than usual? And why are we so dressed up?”

Stinky replied, “Well, my mom got tickets for a special event for the two of us as well as for my dad and herself. I am really sorry that they will be tagging along, but Mom said she had no intention of missing this.”

“Are you going to tell me what this is?” Periwinkle asked.

“Nope.”

Periwinkle began to pout when she heard Stinky’s reply, but he just winked at her and giggled. Then he took her paw and led her to the garage and his mom’s car. Dad Tom buckled the kitties into the back seat, and they went for a short drive to their destination.

Periwinkle Continues to Wonder About Stinky’s Plan

Dad Tom let the two cats and Mom Janet out at The Jefferson Center and went to park the car. Periwinkle still had no idea what was happening. She saw lots and lots of old people, some even older than Stinky’s parents. It made her feel as if this certainly wouldn’t be an adventure she and Stinky would enjoy.

When Dad Tom caught up with them, they went into a large auditorium. Mom Janet led them to seats in the very center of the front row. Periwinkle had no idea what to expect. She was fairly certain they were going to see some kind of concert, as band instruments were set up on the stage. She gave Stinky a quizzical look, but he just winked at her again and squeezed her paw.

The Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist

Soon an emcee came on stage. Periwinkle discovered they were going to see Cote Deonath, a world-renowned Elvis Presley tribute artist. The emcee also told the audience that the 26-year-old Deonath competed at Graceland’s Elvis Week in August 2023 at the Ultimate Elvis Contest. It was the seventh year in a row he had competed, and after placing in the top ten several times and twice in the top three, he finally earned the Ultimate Elvis title. This achievement made him the #1 Elvis tribute artist in the world, as recognized by Graceland and Elvis Presley Enterprises.

Cote Deonath as The Ultimate Elvis

Periwinkle had heard of Elvis Presley, but still wasn’t too certain of what was going to happen. But then, suddenly, a man in a gold, sparkly jacket appeared on stage and began singing and dancing. He had an amazing voice, Periwinkle and Stinky sat and watched, mesmerized as the man sang and moved around the stage as if he was an acrobat. After a couple of songs, Cote/Elvis noticed them in the front row. Surprised to see the well-known, Periwinkle & Stinky, at his performance, he invited them on stage where they remained throughout the concert.

The tabbies discovered that the back-up musicians, The Infinit-E Tribute Band, were quite talented and super fun to watch as well, including  the base player.

Cote Deonath as The Ultimate Elvis

While Cote/Elvis performed, Stinky noticed his parents and what appeared to be most of the audience singing along to a lot of the songs, like Heartbreak Hotel, Hound Dog, Suspicious Minds, Burning Love, Return to Sender, All Shook Up and so many more of the 700 songs Elvis Presley recorded. Both Stinky and Periwinkle wished they knew the words to the songs just like Stinky’s parents.

Costume Change

Cote Deonath as The Ultimate Elvis

The Ultimate Elvis made a few costume changes. Periwinkle & Stinky had a good giggle when the ladies in the audience became giddy when he appeared in the black leather outfit.

The tabbies were having so much fun dancing around the stage; though, they soon discovered they needed to stay pretty far away from Cote/Elvis most of the time. They could be kicked or smacked with a microphone stand if not careful. The performer, however, took care to watch out for the two cats as well as to invite them often to join him.

Learning More About Cote

Between songs Cote told the audience a bit more about himself. He was an hyperactive child. To entertain him, his grandmother sat him in front of the TV and played the Elvis movie, “Follow That Dream.” He has loved Elvis and his music ever since, and began imitating The King at age three.

Cote Deonath as The Ultimate Elvis

When Cote changed into his costume for the portion of the concert that addressed Elvis’ time performing in Las Vegas, Stinky was super impressed.

Cote Deonath as The Ultimate Elvis

During much of the program, snippets of Elvis’ movies, TV appearances, stage shows as well as still photos from throughout his life appeared on the screen behind the performer, like the one above.

As the concert came to a close, Cote/Elvis introduced the tabbies to the audience.

The Concert Ends

The two-plus hour concert had been amazing, and Periwinkle and Stinky thanked Cote/Elvis profusely before he helped them off the stage.

Periwinkle, Stinky and his parents left the auditorium. The tabbies danced all the way to the car. When they arrived home, Stinky got his meds and both tabbies had a snack As it was so late, it was suggested that Periwinkle spend the night. Mom Janet had already cleared it with Mom Sharon.

Before they went off to bed, Periwinkle suggested that they share information about Cote’s upcoming concert dates. Stinky agreed, and here is a link to his website: Cote Ultimate Elvis. There are also two videos on the site that you should watch. If they won’t play for you, you can find lots of videos on YouTube.

Periwinkle and Stinky said “Goodnight,” to Stinky’s parents and fursibs and headed off to bed.

MESMERIZING EYES SELFIE

Sunday Selfies: Week #482

A grey cat shows off her mesmerizing eyes in a selfie portrait surrounded by a black and white frame including aqua flowers.

Here is our stunning Kizmet, with her mesmerizing eyes, in her new portrait. Unlike some of the other Kitties Blue, she is always ready to pose.

I have just noticed that Kizmet has some tabby stripes on her forehead. I am quite surprised to see them. Our other two Kitties Blue, Fiona and Louise, also had very faint tabby markings.

Once again, our portrait subject asked to have a puzzle, and how could I turn her down? Look at that sweet face and those eyes!

BERJAYAKizmet is looking forward to oodles of our friends joining her on the hop. She is our social butterfly, and loves to interact with people and other cats, so please share your selfie with her as well as all your other friends. All animals are invited regardless of species. With that in mind, Kizmet would be excited if you’d invite some of your more unusual friends. to join her.

An Invitation from Stinky

On Friday night, Stinky took his lovely Periwinkle on a very special adventure. He knows that not everybody who joins us for Sunday Selfies pops in on Tuesdays, either here or at Friends Furever, for The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky, but he is certain if you miss this next adventure, you will regret it! And, who knows, you may become a fan of these two adorable and fun-loving tabbies. So, please, add visiting us on Tuesday to your calendar.

Thanks for joining us today. Your friendship and support are so important and appreciated.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

BERJAYAIt’s that time again! Time for you to spruce up your furs, fins, feathers, scales or whatever your particular body covering is and join us for our Sunday Selfies blog hop. Only two of the Kitties Blue have not shown off their new portraits with you. I honestly don’t remember which two have not shared yet, so I cannot give you any hints as to the identity of your host. You’ll just have to stop in to find out, and please share a selfie when you do. You know all your friends will be coming by looking for you.

Hoping to see you tomorrow. Thanks for joining us today. Before we sign-off, Stinky has a message for everyone.

A Message from Stinky

BERJAYAHi Friends,

Periwinkle and I had a super special date last night, which we will be telling you all about on Tuesday in our “The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky” post. Normally, we invite you along on the adventure, but this one was only available last night, so you’ll have to read about it after the fact. Regardless, we really hope you’ll join us. This adventure is not to be missed!

Looking forward to seeing you then, Stinky

Cooper Murphy and Raleigh are here for Feline Friday. They are sharing a progression of then and now photos from their first meeting to a photo from last  fall and finally a current one. They aren’t pals and finding them together is always a surprise. The last photo cracks me up. Raleigh has taken on a defensive posture, but if you could see Cooper Murphy’s expression, you’d see he has no interest in engaging.

Friendly Fill-Ins

BERJAYAThe Friendly Fill-Ins blog hop is hosted each Friday by Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged Furballs). They publish the fill-in sentences on their blogs each Thursday. To join the hop, click on the badge at the left.

I am so relieved I received help today from three of the Kitties Blue. I only had to fill in #4. We all used teal italics to fill-in. I added an explanatory comment in parentheses on my fill-in.

1. Sawyer: I never know if I will like the noms I am served or if I will eat them.

2. Raleigh: I know I should let the humans I live with get close to me, but I don’t want to.

3. Audrey: Is it strange that I enjoy cleaning up any food remaining in my fursib’s bowls?

4. Changing the sheets on the bed is my least favorite chore to do. (It is only due to the help of Kizmet, Cooper Murphy and Calista Joe and any other kitty deciding to show up.)

Thanks for stopping in to see us today. We’ll be here again tomorrow with some Caturday Art.
