So . . . MB and I have a road trip starting next week.
We are driving to Ohio for another baptism.
If it seems like we go to Ohio a lot, it's because we do.
We've family there, an expanding multi-generation family.
The newest member was born about a month ago.
She is the second child of MB's nephew.
Our plan was to attend the baptism next Sunday, hang around for a day or two, then visit members of my extended family in the Cleveland area.
Then drive to Michigan and visit with PHG [maybe she needs a new acronym?] and with GS's brothers and their families.
We were going to spend a week or so.
That all changed in Denver on Saturday.
MB's youngest . . . young being relative . . . had been traveling east from Washington state, visiting colleges for the purpose of selecting a school for his daughter, who graduates next June.
There was some sort of kerfuffle on the freeway between Boulder and Denver and their vehicle was wrecked.
It may even be totaled, but they won't find out until after the holiday.
They are semi-stranded.
Some local folks came through with a place for them to stay and a car they can use locally until they are able to fly out.
There are no rental cars available in the Denver area until Tuesday at the soonest.
They were able to get a flight out for the four of them, but are only able to take about half of their stuff.
MB and I will pick up the rest of it and bring it to Ohio with us.
It appears that we will then probably be helping to transport them and their gear back to Washington instead of our planned excursion.
We are grateful the accident only incurred vehicle damage and that we're able to assist.
