Because He Lives
HAPPY EASTER!
"Because He Lives" by Bill Gaither.
God sent his son
They called him Jesus
He came to love
Heal and forgive
He lived and died
To buy my pardon
An empty grave
Is there to prove
My Savior lives.
(Chorus)
Because he lives
I can face tomorrow
Because he lives
All fear is gone
Because I know
He holds the future
And life is worth the living
Just because he lives.

Happy Easter!
Happy Easter!
This week, I've read several blogs, newspaper columns and Facebook posts
reminding us that the true meaning of Easter isn't about rabbits, eggs
or new clothes. It's all about a Savior who died a humiliating death
in our place. He hung upon a cross, then was placed in a tomb
before his resurrection on the third day.
For those whose Lord is Jesus, it's all about the promise of eternal life
and a peace and joy beyond our human understanding.
That's why I chose the dogwood, which is blooming in my yard this Easter,
as a reminder of this awesome occasion. Legend says the bloom resembles
the shape of a cross and its center, a crown of thorns. The pinched edges
resemble the wounds caused by nails and the red tinge, His blood.

"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ!
In his great mercy he has given us new birth
into a living hope through the resurrection
of Jesus Christ from the dead..."

The King Has Risen!
"The angel said to the women, 'Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said.
Come and see the place where he lay.'"
Matthew 28: 5-6.
Happy Easter!

Hallelujah, Happy Easter!

Hallelujah! Christ the Lord is risen today!
The Good News will be repeated in Christian churches around the world this morning in celebration of a living Savior.
In Selma, I thought the butterfly above a bed of pastel pansies at St. Paul's Episcopal church just looks like Easter! The butterfly was sponsored by the church during the 2008 Butterfly Project and still stands in the church's courtyard.
Thanks to Christine Weerts for submitting this beautiful photograph.

Happy Easter and First Anniversary!
Today, Christians celebrate the resurrection of their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
"And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat on it. His countenance was liike lightning, and his clothing as white as snow. And the guards shook for fear of him, and became like dead men. But the angel answered and said to the women. 'Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.'"
Matthew 28: 2-6
Today, The Selma, Ala., Daily Photo celebrates its one-year anniversary!
I have enjoyed being part of the City Daily Photo Blog community and look forward to seeing more great photos of cities around the world. Thanks to all who have visited, and thanks for the many comments and encouragement!

He is Risen!
"He is Risen!" is the Easter proclamation today in Christian churches all over the world.
Here, a stained-glass window at Selma's Church Street United Methodist Church depicts Christ's invitation to "Come Unto Me."
