California To Become Six States?

BERJAYA
Some guy on the West Coast got enough support to have voters decide if they want California to become six separate states instead of one giant one. Their names would be Jefferson, North California, Silicon Valley, Central California, West California and South California if successful though they would still need approval from their State House and Congress if voters approve. As for me I don't approve, California is an iconic state and so important to American history. I can't help to think the supporters of this only want to do so for a political advantage, similar to how conservatives wanted to split Colorado in two.

So what do you'll think? Six states or just one California?

Fact of the Day: Democratic Comedy

BERJAYA
One of Hollywood's most notable celebrities in the early 20th century was Will Rogers. He was quite notable for his jokes and political wit. One example of his humor being "Everything is changing. People are taking the comedians seriously and the politicians as a joke." While he supported members of both parties at times, he was partisan which he admitted with some added humor "I belong to no organized party, I'm a Democrat." His son Will Rogers Jr. served as a Democratic Congressman for California in 1943-1944.

Fact of the Day: Denny Doughnuts

BERJAYA
While Denny's is a well-known diner-style restaurant, it ironically began as Danny's Donuts in California.

Fact of the Day: California Governors

BERJAYA
When Ronald Reagan left the office of Governor of California, he was succeeded by democrat Jerry Brown. Ironically after Arnold Schwarzenegger's (like Reagan was an actor and a republican) gubernatorial terms were up he was succeeded by Jerry Brown who had returned from political retirement.

Escape from L.A. (1996 Film) Review

BERJAYA
Back in 2011 I had watched Escape From New York which was a classic movie from 1981. It was set as a thrilling tale of an anti-hero's quest to save the President of the United States in New York City which had been turned into a mega-prison. I loved it, but I waited a good bit to the see this sequel that was made 15 years later.

Fact of the Day: City of Angels

BERJAYA
The city of Los Angeles' name is derived from Spanish words which translates as "The Angels". Which is why one of the nicknames for Los Angeles is "city of angels".

Fact of the Day: San Francisco Kung Fu

BERJAYA
Despite being known as "Hong Kong's favorite son", Bruce Lee was born in San Francisco. This was because his father was working in the U.S. at the time.

Fact of the Day: Californian Fiction

BERJAYA

Historians dispute the origin of California's name, however the strongest guess is that is comes from the 16th century book Las sergas de Esplandián. The novel featured an island called California which was inhabited by only women. When Spanish explorers traveled around the western parts of North America, they often thought they had found the "real" island of California.

Gov. Jerry Brown Signs Open Handgun Ban For California

BERJAYA

It will soon be a small crime to carry an open handgun in public places in California. Most of the police departments are thrilled, and I think it's a wise choice. Despite people who makes photos like the one above, it doesn't tread on your 2nd amendment rights. With all the gang members all over the state, I can't imagine how tough it's been to live in comm unites where they could walk around freely with firearms in plain sight.

Gov. Jerry Brown Passes Dream Act For California

BERJAYA

The new law just took effect for one of the most important states in America. It allows illegal immigrants to get scholarships and pay state resident rates for colleges if they can prove that they are working towards legal residency. It's funny to see right-wing groups get all upset about this yet they deny being racist/nationalist in the immigration argument. Yeah being against people working to better their lives and become real Americans...not cool Republicans.
