Things I Like: Flayn (Fire Emblem: Three Houses)

 While far from my favorite, I did like Flayn in the game.

Taking Daisy to McDonald's For Breakfast (Chesnee South Carolina)

 I took Daisy to McDonalds right before the New Year, and also right before we drove to Forest City, NC. Chesnee is on the way there, so I decided that McDonald's would be a good place for breakfast.

Fact of the Day: Patriotism

Things I Like: Queen Eva (Once Upon a Time)

 Snow White's mother didn't have a lot of time on the show but she was a pure-hearted woman and such a good soul.

Little CR and the Box

This photo of my niece Little CR reminds me of myself at her age. Like cats, babies sure do love boxes. 

Fact of the Day: General Sherman Tree

Standing at 275 feet even, the General Sherman tree in California is the largest single-stem tree living today. 

Things I Like: Wendy Darling (Once Upon a Time)

 Wendy Darling was a minor character on the show, but I loved her. She was so pure and so sweet.

Little CR and the Dancing Dog

My youngest niece loves almost everything and this dancing dog she got makes her squeal with delight. 

Fact of the Day: Baboon Enemies

The main animals that eat baboons in the wild are crocodiles, large cats, and hyenas as well. 

Things I Hate: Monica/Kronya (Fire Emblem: Three Houses)

 I did enjoy Monica as a bad person in the game, but despite her beauty, there wasn't much to like. We first see her "rescued" after a year of being gone without a trace.

Danny the Cat and the Christmas Tree

My mom took a photo of her cat Danny and her Christmas tree. He didn't do much damage to it this time. 

Fact of the Day: Greyhound Family

While in recent decades, the dog breed had been known more as a dog for racing, greyhounds are starting to increase the popularity as being a family dog once again. 

Things I Like: Petra (Fire Emblem: Three Houses)

 Petra was one of my least favorites among my team, but I did like her. She starts out as a noble in the Empire learning at the academy. Apparently she lived on an island vassal state that was recently conquered by the Empire.

The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (Nintendo Switch) Review

 The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening was the first sequel to A Link to the Past, and in my opinion, one of the weaker of the "best Zeldas." Now it was actually started and developed partly with a team who worked on the game, AFTER they got done with their original work that day. Which is impressive but does explain some of my "problems" with the game on Game Boy. But I was looking forward to this new remake on Nintendo Switch. 

Taking Mr. B to Mr. Gattis Before Christmas

 Right before Christmas, I took my Little Brother (Big Brothers Big Sisters program) Mr. B to the local pizza/arcade place. The pizza was good and the games were fun.

Fact of the Day: Beatrice

The name Beatrice comes from the Latin word beatrix which means "she who makes happy" in English. 

Things I Like: Caspar (Fire Emblem: Three Houses)

 Among the least favorites on my team, I did like Caspar mildly.

Pete's Dragon (1977 Film) Review

Pete's Dragon was something I never saw a kid. It was a complete flop with critics and a dissapoint for Disney at the box office, and that was eleven years before I was even born. I actually saw the remake of the movie a few years ago and I wanted to give the original a try. For as bad as I heard it was, it made no sense why Disney would try to remake it and were quite good at doing so with the 2016 Pete's Dragon.

Little Iz's Christmas School Event/Dinner

 My mom got to tag along to my niece Little Iz's event for Christmas at school. She told me it was a dinner but I saw plenty of fun.

Fact of the Day: Ossian Sweet

Ossian Sweet was a African-American doctor who moved into a white neighborhood in the 1920's in Detroit, Michigan. His racist neighbors formed an angry mob and attacked his house. Sweet along with other friends and family were in the house. They fired shots in self-defense but nevertheless were charged with murder. Luckily, the court system eventually made Sweet and those affected innocent without a doubt. Though unforutanley, Sweet was plagued with family and personal tragedies afterward and eventually took his own life.  

Things I Like: Hubert (Fire Emblem: Three Houses)

 While he was among my least favorite among the Black Eagles, he was a good ally.

Nephews Decorating Gingerbread Cookies

My nephews Mr. K and Mr. C did these before the holidays. While messy, I can't turn down gingerbread myself. 

Fact of the Day: Ringo Starr

The famous drummer of the Beatles, Ringo Starr's real name is Richard Starkey. 

Things I Like: Dimitri (Fire Emblem: Three Houses)

 While he was against my side at the end, I did like Dimitri. He starts out as the Crown Prince of the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus.

My The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (Nintendo Switch) Impressions

 The Zelda series is my favorite of all time, but Link's Awakening on Game Boy was one of the weaker titles in the series. I was somewhat excited to see the game announced as a real deal remake for Nintendo Switch. My brother played most of the game for me (mostly without my permission) and I never really finished it all those years ago. The remake is a nice time for a fresh start.

Little K's Thanksgiving School Event

 Right before Thanksgiving, my mom and my sister-in-law Tiffany got to see my niece Little K at some kind of school event. She's in the center in the red shirt. They sung about being thankful.

The given name Selma first appeared in a poem by the English poet Thomas Gray. 

Things I Like: Milah (Once Upon a Time)

 Despite being in just a handful of episodes, Milah left quite an impression on me. She is Rumplestiltskin's' first wife. Killian Jone's first true love, Baelfire's mother, and naturally the paternal grandmother of Henry Mills.

2nd Trip to Cinnabon Greenville (Haywood Mall)

 I can't resist a good Cinnabon dessert. I wanted to eat nearby the location (which is in the middle of the mall on the top floor) but some stupid idiots were using all the tables and all they were doing were sitting around and not eating. So I had to take it to the food court.

Fact of the Day: Bald People

By age 50, at least partial hair-loss will affect about half of men and about a quarter of women. 

Things I Hate: William Smee (Once Upon a Time)

 While I never really "hated" him, I didn't really like him either. He's based on the Peter Pan character of the same name.

Lego Chess Set (Lego Greenville)

 I saw this also while at Lego Greenville at the Haywood Mall.

Fact of the Day: Prom Dance

The school dance known as prom is short for promenade dance. Promenade means "walk" in French. 

Things I Like: Dorothea (Fire Emblem: Three Houses)

 One of my favorites in the game, Dorothea is one of the few in the academy that isn't noble or royal. She apparently was an opera singer or something.

Lego Disney Castle (Lego Greenville)

 I was also impressed by this Disney Castle as we passed by Lego Greenville.

Fact of the Day: Safe Pufferfish Meal

Pufferfish is a common meal in Japanese restaurants called Fugu. Though most of these meals are taken from pufferfish with very toxic flesh and skilled chefs have to be careful about selecting the right parts of the fish. There do exist pufferfish species that aren't toxic and there are cultures that enjoy that as a nice menu option.  

Things I Like: Bernadetta (Fire Emblem: Three Houses)

 As a fellow introvert, I felt a lot of pity for Bernadetta being so shy. I chose Edelgard and the Black Eagles, so she was in my main party.

Lego 1989 Batmobile (Lego Greenville)

I saw this at the Lego place at the Haywood mall. It's based on the major-movie Batman from 1989 with Michael Keaton. 

Fact of the Day: Father and Son Teamsters

Jimmy Hoffa was a leader of the Teamsters Union who mysteriously disappeared decades ago. His son (also bearing the legal name James Hoffa) is currently in his father's old role as President of the Teamsters labor union. 

Things I Like: Linhardt (Fire Emblem: Three Houses)

 Linhardt was one of my most valuable team members during my route (Black Eagles, Crimson Flower) in the game.

Astronaut Snoopy at FYE (Haywood Mall)

One of the places at the Haywood had this cool Snoopy as an astronaut. He's such a hero!

Fact of the Day: Sound Wave Matter

Sound waves travel the fastest through solids than any other type of matter. 

Things I Like: Ferdinand (Fire Emblem: Three Houses)

 Ferdinand is one of the students in the Black Eagles house, and since I chose to follow Lady Edelgard, he was one of my teammates.

Anne With An E (TV Series) Season 3 Review

 When Daisy and I started dating, she got me watching the Anne Shirley mini-series with Megan Follows which was made before I was born. While not as popular in America, the Anne Shirley/Green Gables books are pretty standard quo to Canada. Anne With an E is a Canadian TV series rebooting the story but Netflix has the rights to it outside of Canada.

2019 Christmas Tree and Santa (Haywood Mall)

 I always enjoy seeing Haywood Mall's Christmas tree which is much much much much taller than Daisy.

Fact of the Day: Stupid

The ultimate root word of the English word "stupid" is the Latin word stupere which means "to be amazed or stunned."

Things I Like: Sylvain (Fire Emblem: Three Houses)

 Sylvain is a member of the Blue Lions and a heir to a noble house in the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus. Somehow I got him in my party, without me trying. He's good with a lance, but in the story he's a shameless flirt, always out to break some poor girl's heart.

Wizard of Oz Christmas Nutcrackers at Dillards

 I thought these were cool right before Christmas. The Wizard of Oz isn't my favorite film of all time but I do like it.

Fact of the Day: Mount Sinai

Due to its huge role in the Abrahamic religions (where the stories say Moses got the Ten Commandments), Mount Sinai in Egypt is also known as Mount Moses. 

Things I Hate: Alois (Fire Emblem: Three Houses)

 I wasn't a big fan of Alois in the game. He's a knight for the Church of Seiros and he doesn't do much in the game.
