Sony Ends DLC For PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale

BERJAYA
All-Stars Battle Royale was suppose to be Sony's answer to Super Smash Bros. but ended up disappointing both critically and in the homes of gamers. Though All-Stars was able to have new characters and stages via DLC (unlike Super Smash Bros. Brawl), but it has now come to an end. Sony cut ties with the original developer and there will be nothing new to look forward to. Makes me wonder if there will be a sequel.

A Look Into Video Games: Crash Bash (PS1)

BERJAYA
When Mario Party became a hit for the N64 in 1998, other companies took notice. Sega tried giving Sonic a chance to be a worthy rival on Dreamcast and failed. Sony released Crash Bash around the same time as Sonic Shuffle and the results were a good bit better.

A Look Video Games: FantaVision (PS2)

BERJAYA
FantaVision was one of the first games to ever grace the PS2. For some reason it got a notable amount of attention (it was also a tech demo shown off during the early showings of the PS2 itself) which might of been because Sony developed it so it was a real 1st party title. Maybe they were hoping it would be the PS2's Tetris, but this puzzle game failed to glow very brightly.

A Look Into Video Games: Twisted Metal: Small Brawl

BERJAYA
Twisted Metal: Small Brawl was a PS1 game released in 2001. While Twisted Metal: Black on PS2 revived the series to it's previous greatness, Small Brawl aimed at a younger demographic. Instead of violent death-matches, the story was broken down as a RC car competition on the playground.
BERJAYA
While the series has never been extremely controversial, Small Brawl was a pretty strange step for the series.  Ignoring all the theme changes, it did at least play like the rest of the series.
BERJAYA
However Sony probably didn't put much time and effort in this game. Even though it had the same developer as Twisted Metal: Black, the time between the two games release dates was only a few short months. This side project of sorts was generally panned by critics from nearly all publications. I remember seeing some previews for it, and recall not even being tempted by it once so I never played it myself.

A Look Into Video Games: Segagaga

BERJAYA
Segagaga is a Japanese-only RPG released for the Dreamcast in 2001. Despite having a silly name, it's pretty interesting for a number of reasons.
BERJAYA
Even if you import it, you might as well say "good luck" if you don't know how to read Japanese. Regardless the story is set in year 2025, and Sega has 3% of the market and must defeat the evil company known as DOGMA. The latter being a parody of Sony. At least they had an accurate view of their financial future.
BERJAYA
So you play as some kid who must save the company and bring it to the top of market. Guessing on how the Dreamcast failed, I'm going to assume that his quest was a joke.
BERJAYA
It featured some pretty sweet anime cut-scenes though.
BERJAYA
Also an old-school RPG battle system. Plus cameos from your favorite Sega mascots and parodies from the video game industry. If I ever learn enough Japanese (I've been studying) to play this I will give this a shot if I can find a copy of it.

A Look Into Video Games: PSone

BERJAYA

The PSone was a redesigned Playstation released in the summer of 2000 right before the release of the PS2. It was compact, sleek, and had less hardware issues than the original console. It actually outsold all other consoles in the year 2000.

PSVita Limited To Only One PSN Account Per Handheld?

BERJAYA

Many PS3 users have used multiple accounts on PSN. One reason is for different family members. The other is for the use of buying games from different regions. Apparently strong rumors are coming out of Japan that if you want a different PSN account, then the PSVita will have to be reset to factory settings. Which is a bit lame, but not a deal-breaker.

PSVita Won't Run Web Browser During Gameplay

BERJAYA

While most other apps on the system will run at the same time (if desired), the most notable one will be turned off during gameplay. Yes if you want to check a game-help site, then your game will have to be saved and turned off. Sony confirmed that this won't be possible, at least at launch.

PS1 Games And Other Older Titles Won't Work For PSVita At Launch

BERJAYA

Apparently PSOne Classics and other older systems available now on your PSP will not work on your shiny new PSVita for awhile. There's no dates of when it will be fully workable, but I guess Sony is just trying make sure that all games run smoothly with the new hardware.

Rumor: Sony Making Smash Bros Clone Called Title Fight?

BERJAYA

It's hard to deny the success of the Smash Bros. series. Not only are they very fun games, but fans love it. It's hard to believe Sony or Microsoft has never really even tried to make their own Smash Bros. game. Sure they don't have the same number of mascots, but they could have come up with something. Apparently Sony might be doing just that with a rumored game called Title Fight. It apparently will feature characters like Sly Cooper, Kratos, and Parappa The Rapper. The only "proof" anyone has been able to come up with is this screenshot of a really creepy Sweet Tooth from Twisted Metal.

Things I Hate: Jet Li: Rise to Honor

BERJAYA

I played a decent bit of it on PS2 a few years ago. I had a few friends in high school who flipped over the idea of the game.

Harry Potter PS3 Bundle Announced

BERJAYA

Most bundles include video games, not movies. But hey whatever. For $250 you get a 160GB PS3, a copy of Deathly Hallows Part 2 on Blu-Ray and downloads for the first two movies. Not bad.

A Look Into Video Games: PS3 Prototype Controller

BERJAYA

Back in E3 2005 I believe, we all were shown the PS3 for the first time. Along with it was a controller that was...different. Very different.

Hot Shots Golf 3 Review

BERJAYA

I'm not a huge golf fan, but I enjoy the occasional golf game. Most of the ones since the N64/PS1 days have held up pretty well, so I decided to check out the first Hot Shots game on PS2.

A Look Into Video Games: PSX

BERJAYA
PSX eh? No, this is not a post about the original PlayStation. It used to be nicknamed PSX back before the PS2 came out since PS sounded weird. Now most people call it the PS1.

Hot Shots Golf 3 Impressions

BERJAYA

I remember liking the first two on PS1 but never gave the PS2 ones a chance until now.

Sony and Ericsson Split Ways

BERJAYA

I first noticed the brand of phone in Splinter Cell where Sam Fisher used one. Even in the Xbox and GameCube Versions. I didn't know they had teamed up with another company just for cell phones for awhile now. Now the two are parting ways with Sony buying out their share in their cell phone market. I'm expecting them to come out with a huge attempt to take over the market from Androids and iPhones.
