Three Storey Building in Gee Cross


This building stands on the corner of Knott Lane and Stockport Road and was built circa 1770-1790 and was originally built for cotton processing. 

It has also been amongst other things a Barbers shop and a Grocery shop owned by Alfred Woolley..
I'm happy to say it is still in use as a house !

Tom knew this as Johnny Grahams Barbers in the early 1960s while he attended Enfield Street School. He say Johnny was lovely chap who give you sweets if you kept still while he was working. Always the same hair cut.. shot back and sides.

On the Tithe map of  1836-51 the following details are shown about the building.
It was owned and occupied by Daniel Wood and was used as a homestead. It comprised of a house,outbuilding and garden.
