We've seen  a lot of international English language epic series produced by France, Italy, Russia in recent years, and now Germany is joining them as their Constantin Film will make an epic movie and a six part TV series

Cyrill Boss and Philipp Stennert are set to direct

(produced by David Wnendt) based on Wolfgang Hohlbein's popular 1986 novel HAGEN OF TRONJE (Hagen von Tronje), a Nibelung saga adventure filled with dragons, dwarfs and magic which served as an inspiration even for J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings.

Hagen From Tronje follows Hagen, a lonely, dark hero, and famous mythical hero Siegfried von Xanten, most radiant of them all, dragon slayer and ruler of the Nibelungen. But Hohlbein's novel turns upside down the well known constellation of the Nibelungen saga, in which Siegfried is the dazzling hero and Hagen is a traitor who uncovers the secret of Siegfried's only physical vulnerability and ends up murdering him insidiously! Here Hagen is a lonely hero, the last Viking to be closely related to the old gods, while Siegfried is an unscrupulous upstart. These new versions of them fight in the novel for power and love.

Once there, he realizes there is more to the OAPs than meets the eye, discovering they are a gang of convicted criminals turned Robin Hoods who use their heist skills to battle social injustice.

Mean while, March 4th was supposed to be a cinematic premiere date for another project on the famous general: DE GAULLE a historic film in which he is portrayed by Lambert Wilson. I don't know if the date was pushed due to corona outbreak or not but it did earn almost $5 million so far around the world so I guess it did play somewhere. The story of that film is set in Paris, June 1940. The de Gaulle couple (Lambert Wilson and Isabelle Carre) is confronted with the military and political collapse of France. I'm quite sure that, back when they were producing it a year or so ago, the writers of Russian science fiction apocalyptic series VONGOZERO: THE OUTBREAK did not really anticipate the events that are happening around the world right now. The series, which premiered at last year's Canneseries in April and took part in the official competition, streamed on Russia's internet platform Premier last winter, is based on the bestselling book Vongozero by Yana Vagner which was translated into more than ten languages around the world.
