Thank you America
Reading about and seeing the pictures from Anbar province in Iraq has been quite a moving experience for me. I was not brought up in or close to western countries like America or in Europe, I never knew much about America or the world’s history. I never had much interest is history, can’t even remember most of it from the school days, but what I did figure out years ago was that America was a good nation and without them this world would be a very different place. I learnt this from books and this experience for me wasn’t from something that happened in my lifetime and to me there is a difference.
Well, now it has happened in my lifetime, once again Americans have stepped up to do the right thing, once again they have proved to the world that they are a force for good in this world. As Bill O’Reilly always says, they are a noble people and a noble nation and the Armed forces of the United States deserve our thanks. I’ll stop waffling now and let the pictures do the talking, please note, the pictures are only used to show my interpretation of the events and may not accurately reflect the times and locations of events.
This was Ramadi in Anbar province, Iraq.
Broken, beaten, gripped by evil, darkness, pain & barbarity. The hokey phrase “war on terrorism” just fails to describe what happened before, when a city of 450,000 people was chewed to pieces by an army of hundreds of sadists and killers, where every single day was September 11. “One thing these people really understand,” a Soldier sadly told me by way of explanation, “is pain.”
Then they came.

Led by their General, one more time, a last bid by their leader.

Like warriors from a forgotten time, they knew it was the same evil that had to be stopped, that it was up to them to step forward and take on the darkness. They ate, slept, worked, fought, bled, and died next to each other in the heat of battle against those who had earlier taken over the city. “We Americans and Iraqis have been through hell together here,” said Captain McGee. There are no pictures of them fighting, but know it well, they bled, they fought tooth and nail for every inch of that wretched ground, every corner, every building and every house because the enemy are a hard, ruthless and nasty bunch of bastards.
Now, thanks to their sacrifice, the darkness is driven out, the light burns strong.

None of this would be possible without the sacrifice of Americans, extraordinary human beings, from probably ordinary places in America.

They left their homes and the ones they love for a far away place, to spill their blood and give their lives for freedom and peace. This is why we fight. This is why what we do is worth doing. This is what makes the sacrifices, like Lieutenant Hightower having metal enter his body, worthwhile.” Lieutenant Hightower was standing right next to us when Lieutenant Welch said that. He was hit with an IED a few months ago. Pieces of shrapnel tore up his leg. He nodded at what Lieutenant Welch said, agreeing that getting “blown up,” as Welch put it, was worth it.
God Bless America.
05/02/2011 – America did the world another favor, their sons cut off the head of the evil snake.

Thank you for your kind words. I have two sons in the American military. One is a Navy SEAL, the other a Navy pilot. Both have a vibrant Christian faith and I am proud of their commitment to the cause they are serving.
It is encouraging to hear comments like these at a time when Americans are maligned and despised.
Thank you!

MK — Thank you for your gracious welcome to Crusader Rabbit. It’s a pleasure to meet you.
As an old Cold War vet, whose son is also a vet (he was an Army Ranger who was in Desert Storm), I thank you so much for that wonderful post about America. We have grown so accustomed to hearing so much criticism and negativity that it’s almost shocking to read something complimentary about our great nation.
But then, this is why you are our finest ally.
I’m sure we’ll talk again soon.
Till then,
best wishes from your new Yank friend,
Roger G.

Thank you so much for your tribute to America. It’s also a tribute to all of us who hold sweet freedom as sacred. Americans don’t own freedom and I fear if we keep heading the direction we are going that we will no longer be worthy or able to protect her.
And by “we”, I mean simple citizens like me who took it all for granted, all these many years (for which I now kick myself on a daily basis). I stand in awe of our troops who did not need 9.11 to make them aware of how precious this experiment called “America” is.
Thank you for visiting sassy and I am adding you to my blog roll.

Thank you so very much for all your kind words. I am an American and it gets very frustrating and tiring always feeling hated. I can truly say that all I want is a better world. Please continue what you are doing – you have made my day and brought hope to my heart. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help or assist you. I have participated in ‘Operation Iraqi Freedom’ and read as much as I can to help the efforts in Irag – but (as you know) this can be very, very defeating. Thank you so very much again.
Best wishes,
Nicole
