INCEPTION

Given that Inception has been out for two weeks now I think it might be time to go into review mode. Usually, we go for a review right off the bat with a new film or television show but this movie in particular warrants a special type of piece written about it. Christopher Nolan has become known for his deeply philosophical treatment of the Batman mythos and his ability to entertain audiences in a unique fashion in recent years. For me, if it has his name attached I’m eagerly awaiting whatever that project may be.

“Even a day at the beach isn’t a day at the beach with you people.”
Jesse suggests a day at the beach to Mike and Fi. Of course, they realize that there’s something going on when Jesse picks a spot right in front of the hotel hosting the International Intelligence Conference.

“I’m not about to do any favors for a couple of burned spies.”
Jesse’s old boss, Marv, played by Richard Kind, has the clearance to get the information they’ve been searching for on the bank that was hit. All Jesse has to do is get Marv to help him. Unfortunately, Marv knows that if he is spotted with either Michael or Jesse his career could end up in the toilet as well.

My SDCC Links of Interest

I’ve never been to the San Diego Comic Con but I keep track of all the headlines. They happen so fast it gives people headaches but there’s so much great news coming. LEVERAGE:

After two weeks of the LEVERAGE onslaught Sunday nights, TNT dials it back with just a single episode, making my life a lot easier – though a week later, thanks to me “cutting the cable” and going internet-only for my TV.   So, from here on out, my reviews will show up the week after the show airs.  Come on TNT – get with the program.  Or at least it get it out a few hours after it airs.

After her sister dies thanks to the machinations of some no-goodniks at a big pharm company, a young lass is found by the LEVERAGE crew who want to help.  In our B-plot, the burgeoning affection between Hardison and the aforementioned young lass makes Parker feel something akin to jealousy.  Identities are concealed, the wool is pulled over eyes, Nate drinks, Elliot romances and kicks ass (within a few scenes of each other), and Sophie is… Sophie.

What? I dig Gina Bellman.   (more…)

“Interrogating a hostile prisoner is a little like proposing marriage. You want to get it right on the first try.”
One of the questions I’ve been asked a few times this season is “what’s Jesse’s purpose?” Although I still haven’t come up with a great answer to that I did start to see how he could add something to the team with this episode. Jesse’s rookie enthusiasm played against the calm rationale of Michael’s experience shines a light not only on how much Jesse still has to learn, but on just how good Michael Westen is at his job.
