Rubber Vulcanized

Do you plan to travel in South Cebu this Summer? 
There are many location of Rubber Vulcanizing Shop along the south highway starting Pardo. There is one near Princewarehouse in Bulacao, another one in Tabunok and in boundary of Minglanilla and Talisay City. Ther is another rubber vulcanizing shop in the town of Minglanilla just besides Tita Gwapa store. A lot more Rubber Vulcanization business along the highway until you past in San Fernando. Make sure you have a reserve tire after San Fernando because the next town is farther than the previous succeeding towns.

Did you know the story of discovery before Rubber Vulcanization  was introduced to public?

In 1830’s, many scientist study a way to create a weatherproof rubber to produce in vulcanization of rubber. Charles Goodyear is one of the inventors trying to discover the real process of producing a rubber for vulcanization. In the course of study, he experience bankruptcy and put behind bars for unpaid debts. He continued his study even behind bars without the help of US government. He lives with his family in a tenement style house after serving his prison term. There he continues his rubber vulcanizing experiment. His relative lectures him and reminded him about his wrong obsession and reminded him that his 6 children needed a food to eat.
After years of experiment, some test accident occurred. In 18396, Goodyear was displaying his latest mixture of gum and sulphur at certain store. He was usually ridiculed, but he discovers an elastic substance formed with the mixture of other chemicals. Vulcanized rubber started with the discovery of Charles Goodyear.
He theorized that sulphur and heat is the right mixture but he does not know the exact proportions or formula. Revitalized in his obsession, his poverty continued to extend in his family that cause death to his younger child. He was not able to afford funeral service so he just borrowed a cart to bring his dead infant to the cemetery.
In one of his un-guided experiment with the application of steam, he finally discovers the key process to form a vulcanized rubber. He steams the rubber for several hours under pressure with the temperature of 270F that resulted to weatherproofing rubber. That is the beginning of vulcanized rubber. Goodyear shared his discovery to his brother who lectures him about his wrong obsession.

In bad faith, he send sample of his discovery to British rubber plants that was able to obtain patent in foreign land. This man is also in the study of vulcanized rubber for 20 years His name is Thomas Hancock of the famous Hancock industry. He reinvented the weatherproofing process in 1843, four years after Goodyear. Then when Goodyear applied for a British patent, then Hancock had beaten him with the Patency law as well as losing the case

The term vulcanized rubber was originated from Hancock industry since they are well established and richer that Goodyear. Today, the rubber industry employs millions of employees all over the world. But the bad faith of Charles Goodyear did not end. He died with $200,000 debts. On the other hand the famous Goodyear Tire does not have any relationship with Charles Goodyear. The company named in Goodyear in honor of his contribution.

Dinagat Festival in Cordova Cebu

 

People from different town in Cebu visited Cordova to watch the annual Dinagat Festival. The Local town of  Cordova allocated more than  2Million budget for the town fiesta festival  The mayor said, this will be the most expensive festival in Cordova but he is very happy because the event was held successfully. Each schools who participated in the event will received cash support for props, costumes, foods and choreographer and dance trainors. 

 

Employees from various company specially those working in inbound call center industry who spent their regular 5 days in the office visited this event as their TGIS time.

 

Just 2 hours travel from Cebu City. You can found this town in the Island of Mactan
