Bad News Not the Messiah Choristers. I got home last night and tried to upload the photos from last night only to find that they had mysteriously disappeared. I have no idea how they came to be wiped. Unfortunately it means that I don’t have the group photo with Eric Idle and John du Prez.
You can access the photos I do have from Not the Messiah by clicking here.
Last night we had the first of 2 performances of Not the Messiah, the Oratorio version of Monty Python’s the Life of Brian staring Eric Idle at the Perth Concert Hall. It is on again tonight. If you have nothing better to do, come on down, there are still tickets available. Heres a preview from last nights Channel 10 News:
China’s Shaolin Temple has has taken the unusual step of hiring a lawyer to challenge an anonymous internet satirist who claimed a Japanese ninja took on its kung fu-practising monks and won.
The temple - renowned as the cradle of China’s martial arts tradition - took exception to an internet bulletin board post, signed with the pseudonym “Five Minutes A Day”, which described the ninja victory.
“This is absolutely untrue,” the lawyer said in a statement. “We vehemently condemn the odious behavior of this “Five Minutes A Day”, which is not just extremely irresponsible as far as Shaolin Temple is concerned but also with regards to martial arts in China, and to the nation as a whole.”
Unfortunately, Mr “Five Minutes A Day” has issued an apology, so it looks like they won’t be going to court. I for one would like to have been that judge… I would’ve ordered a demonstration (go s53 of the Uniform Evidence Act 1995): the best Shoalin Temple vs the best Ninja Friday Night in Court 3 live on Pay Per View. Feel free to speculate on who would’ve won. My money is on the Temple.
I’ve already had some visitors google searching for 2007 ALSA conference photos etc. This is just a quick post to let you know that my photos from the 2007 Australian Law Students’ Association Conference, the 8th Annual International Maritime Law Arbitration Moot and also photos generally taken around Melbourne and Canberra are available on Facebook. You don’t need to be a member on Facebook to view (though why don’t you join, its free and a really great service). Here are public links to the galleries:
In related news, I’ve set up a facebook group for ex-mooters, coaches, organisers, helpers and judges of the International Maritime Law Arbitration Moot for the purpose of keeping in touch and also sharing photos from the event. If you’ve had any participation with the competition I encourage you to join (especially if you have photos to share). Just search for maritime moot on facebook… the IMLAM group should be the only result.
Unfortunatley, Murdoch was knocked out in the 2007 Client Interview Semi-Finals and we were beaten by ANU in the Kirby Cup, so Murdoch won’t be getting any silverware this year.
Anyway, here are tomorrow’s Grand Finalists:
Witness Examination: University of Auckland v National University of Singapore
Client Interview: University of New South Wales Notre Dame (WA)
Negotiation: Monash University v Macquarie University
Red Cross International Humanitarian Law Moot: University of Adelaide v Monash University
