Great article, when i was going through my certification and training to get my license I found some great information from the nursing journals on this site. Hope it helps and keep the great articles coming.
I am writing in defence of all the nurses at LIVERPOOL HOSPITAL N.S.W. We found in every department they were always doing the best they could for their patients.
Always bright & cheery & most of all very, very , busy.
Most of them work 10 to 12 hr shifts. We need more nurses & better pay , & more new machines that do a lot of things a lot quicker than the old type.
There must be a lot of staff that suffers burn out as it is a long time to stay fully focased on each & every patient with different needs & drug doses, also to deal with rude & horrible demanding people.
They were all good to my husband who was out of it for 3 days after epileptic fits . We all should be thankfull for our dedicated nurses & Doctors & help them as much as we can

I absolutely agree with you. How can we ask nurses to work long hours with impossible patient assignments, and then complain about their “lack of good humor”!?!
They do a remarkable job, and instead of criticizing them for their failings, we should applaud them for their performances.

Literally “surfing” the web to check out what is going on in our nursing world and came across this. I thought it would be beneficial to mention a US site called http://www.nursetogether.com– I have been active in the Forum there lately– I am a member and I know several members have often asked about nursing in Australia. The premise of the site is empowering nurses globally– it is quite fun meeting nurses from around the globe engaged in supportive discussion and yes, sometimes misunderstandings. The one thing that I like to jump into is the decompression room– one of the other members suggested it. You know, after a stressful day or shift, you want to log on and just let it all out????? Needless to say, it can be humorous, mindboggling.. but as a nurse, you can understand. So anyway, just a quick hello.
Yeah, I signed up for Nursetogether as well. I love their Life section and I have yet to find a nursing site with the amount of lifestyle articles (relationships, work/life balance, fitness, travel, parenting, etc.) all geared towards nurses. I also found that the forums had a great mixture of nurses from around the world.

RE. Wellness Model & Preventative Medicine
Does anyone have any idea where i can find this wellness model that Minister Roxen mentioned in parliament. I spoke to her office and as usual they had no idea. i found the christians sacramental model but found great opposition to this whilst working in the Biomedical model. is there a website for working mothers because i found the nurses consciousness is dictated to by the lezbian feminist anarchists and im sick of filling freezers up full of dead babies working in the northern territory. Please help us

My sister is a nurse, and in fairness I think the lack of staff in Australia is scary, sooner or later the Australian Health Minister, will need to consider to fix the health service and try to improve hospitals and work conditions.
