Why Semantically driven

When I decided to properly start a blog (I wonder if my original one on Blogger or whatever it was is still kicking around) it took me ages to decide on a name. Because I love reading and love writing, I wanted a name to encompass words or semantics. And because I feel driven to write, I included driven in my title. I also wrote about this when it was this blog’s second anniversary. In this post I contemplated changing the title, but I’m not changing it now because I’ve registered the semanticallydriven.com domain.

What you will find here

This isn’t what you would call a niche blog, ie I fall into a few categories. One is the mummyblogger category because I do blog about my son but this is not the sole focus here. I also blog about blogging itself because I obviously love blogging and my day job is to do with the web, writing and other technical computer stuff so I am good at writing things in plain English for the novice. There are also photos, photo tips, reviews and observations on events and television, and even some stories from my travels in previous years. Overall, it’s a personal blog so pour yourself a drink, sit down and look through the archives. If you have any questions, please contact me.

Some flattery my way - my blogging cred if you will

In August 2007 I finally got my own domain name - semanticallydriven.com. After I did that I found out I’d just missed out on being included in the Top 100 Aussie bloggers list. In October 2007 I debuted onto the list at number 99 and have been in and out of it ever since. Not long after this debut I changed hosts from Typepad to Wordpress.

Top 50 Australian woman bloggerNot long after that I became part of the Top 50 Australian women bloggers (now the Top 100).

In December 2007 I was asked to be a moderator for the new Aussie Bloggers forum and a blog contributor for the accompanying blog which was launched on 21 January 2008.

Semantically driven is a 9rules member

In January 2009 I became a 9rules member. 9rules, finds the best content from the independent web and pulls it all together in one location. I was really chuffed to be chosen for this.

Really it’s all about me

I was born and raised in the country and once I finished high school I got out as I felt there was more for me than staying in the country and working in some sort of clerical job.

My immediate family consists of me, a seven-year-old boy (referred to as Jaycee Junior and JJ) and my eleven-year-old border collie cross dog.

I’ve been a sole parent pretty much since JJ was conceived. Read more about about meeting JJ’s father (on Ourstory.com), when I found out I was pregnant, and what it felt like to be pregant while single.

I studied part-time as a mature age student to get a Bachelor degree in Professional Writing and Communication as I have a keen interest in the written word and I thought writing this blog would at least get me doing some writing.

In addition to this website I maintain the Safari suit website (a special interest blog about, you guessed it, safari suits). You’ll have to go and check it out for yourself.

I’m also interested in writing a biography as I did a subject at uni to this effect and got a really good mark and loved doing it. I suppose this blog enables me to continually write my autobiography and get the practise in. I also feel the need to write, and blogging has become addictive.

I therefore plan to continue writing on this website and develop my writing skills. As a lecturer at uni said and I’ve heard other writer’s say, ‘Just write’.

If you’re still reading..

I have written fairly anonymously about myself on this blog to protect the innocent. Actually it’s been to protect myself, from what I don’t know. If you really want to find out a bit more about the person behind this blog come visit and befriend me in these places.
