The Vormator competition started 2 years ago inviting thousands of artists from yonder sea to create an illustration using only a pallet of shapes at their disposal. Of the participants a selected few were chosen to have their finished work published into the Vormator book with an interview explination as to how they did it. The challenge beingto try and put a limitation on each artist's creativity and see how they would overcome it has since gone on to be used by a number of professors and art schools as a teaching method but you can and should but this book to see how Unkle Calorie here and a handful of others were how it all began. Artists have signed up, dates are set, Dj's have been confirmed and word of Tiger Beers 'Tiger Translate' event is slowly leaking out everywhere. This years multi-sensory aesthetic explosion is to be held right in our very own favorite overpopulated polution hive, London Town! This global art event annualy brings together artists of all varieties, both audio and visual from around the world to do those things they do, for you. Graffiti writers, illustrators, fine artists collaborate with one another while the likes of My Chemical Romance and this year the Nextmen paint the inside of your earlobes. We've had our eye on this show for the past years as our friends Jon Burgerman, Jeremyville, Phunk Studio, Faile and Surface to Air have been traveling the globe with thier cans and brushes, and it seems Tiger have had their eye on us too. Husssah! After months and months of drawing, organizing, doodling, art directing, sketching and publishing, Black&White is finally here! In the book, over 40 international artists collaborate on a drawing with Zeptonn. These collaborations are called "freedrawings" to highlight the lack of restrictions, themes and guidelines. The project is a unique exploration of collaborative drawing, and features personal work and studio photos from over 40 international artists, some old friends & some new. Finally something to get stoked about if you live in Stoke, Rob & Alex took a trip down to one of our newest retailers 'Dazed' to put up some off-the-streets graffiti and chew down some oat cakes. The UK's quaterly coffee-table candy 'Clutter magazine' decided this month to grab Alex and twist his mellon for their latest issue's interview feature. Pick up a copy from your local news agent, (or a Borders book store if you live in a backward town like us) and tune your hicalorie knowledge by reading his 4 page interview and melt over Rob's rainbow drizzled photos.

Laser Beams !
We got Salt, our friend Kurt at 5280Lasers got pepper, so we decided it best to get together and laserblast up some shunt-woods! By laser etching down to different levels of ply we turned these canadian maple skate decks into bits of wood you will want to heelflip onto your wall, pride place above your living room fireplace. Watch this space, more cut-up wooden things to follow.

Beware of Fake Buka!
Buka is the latest mini vinyl platform from adFunture, designed by artist Sichi. We dont know exactly what it is a fake buka may do to endanger you in any way, but apparently it is wise to be cautious of them regardless. However today a small army of very authentic, and totally non-threatening Buka arrived at our door, the Hicalorie variety! The 3" Hicalorie Buka is blind boxed up into the first series among other designs from Frank Kozik, Nanospore, dgph, furi furi and others, they will be available from all good designer toy stores mucho pronto!

DV8 Magazine!
DV8 are putting out the commemorative shoe issue of their magazine, dedicated exclusively to sneaker culture & custom footwear. Especially for shoe addicts, were in there somewhere along with some hicalorie customs, pick it up for 5$ and take a look!

DIY Calamari!
Behold, the greatest and only plastic octopus themed artistic event the world has ever seen! Because we are self indulgent narcissists, we thought it only fair to try and milk the release of our beloved Lefty toy for all its worth, and what better a way to do that than invite 30 of our favorite artists and closest friends to play pimp-my-lefty and then exhibit the finished pieces for the world to see. Artists include Jeremyville, Julie west, Jeremiah Ketner, DGPH, Mike Burnett, Mr Jago and many more. The next Hicalorie art exhibition is upon us! To celebrate the upcoming releases of Lefty and Buka we have got our brushes and spray cans out to create the colorfull canvas wonders of 'Shelf Life', a duet art show hosted by ourselves and Sichi (creator of Buka). The Show will feature new canvases, artworks and products from Alex Devol and Sichi and run alongside a Lefty customs show featuring work from 30 international artists. Our newfound best friends & partners in crime adFunture are currently on a boat sailing for UK shores. Due to set foot on UK soil on the 11th of November for the grand opening of the adFunture London Store! The London store, found at B2 - part of Bodhi Gallery on Brick Lane, will feature 6 weeks of new exclusive product drops, artist signings, customs shows, art exhibits and secret releases, the store will also host the official release of our Lefty vinyl on the 15th! Pimp My Pump!
You thought you had seen the last of the Hicalorie custom sneaker-splosions. Wrong! Indeed it has been some time and our shoes have been neglected recently, but thanks to Lazy Oaf getting in touch and inviting us to paint some blank white pumps for their new travelling gallery show, Hicalorie has been taking it to the feet once again. The 'Pimp My Pump' show will be touring through stores & galleries in the UK, Paris & Holland over the next months and feature a while array of smokin hot plimsole pump pimp-slapping from Jon Burgerman, Ian Stevenson, Kate Sutton, Hicalorie and more. We Love Lazy Oaf.

Little Plastic Tentacles!
Some teaser shots of our upcoming saltwater vinyl toys here, the little 6" octopi photographed are being produced in collaboration with adFunture International and are modeled on the shape of Lefty himself, everybodys favorite narcotics ridden deep-sea creature. More soon on this!

Mole RIDE!
Our neighbours DGPH are on the road with their USA Mole Ride Tour! Stopping through Munky King on Melrose and on to a list of other venues they will be offering live art, new prints, collaboration works and a new vinyl toy with adFunture to anyone who makes it on the day. DGPH have just finished up the vinyl release of Topo, one of their moles, and a series of collaborative posters with artists including Jeremyville, Julie West, Jon Burgerman and Hicalorie (thats us).

Make it nice for the Blind people!
Blind is 21 artists contributing their efforts to help the visually impaired, each artist has contributed an artwork, which will be blind packaged and sold by Octane3 store, all artworks will remain a mystery untill sold. Priced at £25 each, and limited to 1 per customer, all money raised will be donated directly to the Royal National Institute of Blind People to help research and treatments into eye disease. After sales an online gallery will display all the works. Artists include Cupco, DGPH, Hicalorie, Huck Gee, Jon Burgerman, Peskimo, Squink, Sket-One, Tado, Tokidoki & more.

After much patience and waiting from our girl fans, the camels back has broken a little and dropped some of our latest cotton treats off early. Interstellar Expo 07!
Interstellar Expo Los Angeles is on the way to LA this summer, showcasing creative talent from around the world through a whole range of platforms. This years show will be featuring some Hicalorie tit and tat, from sneaker customs to illustrations. The expo is expecting to draw huge crowds from illustrators, designers, artists and graffiti writers, creatives worldwide should be keeping an eye on this show. Mostly because were there.

Inner Tee!
Apparently art & apparel have become one at Innertee.net, a website that allows you to make tee shirts into short sleeved wonder-pallets using a combination of your favourite artworks. The site hosts designs from a bunch of different artists and is so easy to use it allows even the most talentless monkeys to arrange and create something unique. Hicalorie X DGPH - Cabello!
Finally the moment you all, or some of you, have been waiting for! An attempt that has been months in the making, to put the minds of our good friends & explosive geniuses DGPH to good use. Hicalorie & DGPH have worked in beautiful plush harmony to bring you this enormous, hairy, and angry yet lovable toy 'Cabello.' This unhappy creature is made with a badillion different fluffy materials to give the softest yet most reluctant hug ever! Cabello will be available soon in catastrophically limited edition, also with some top secret exclusive colorways from selected vendors for his release. Mmmmm.

Project Vinyl Show!
The Project Vinyl show Florida just came & flew by, if you were lucky enough to be there you will have been privy to amazing artworks from the minds of Shin Tanaka, Jam Factory, Gaston Caba, Kenn Munk, Nakanari, Okkle and so on. We also got to leave calories strewn across the venue in the form of our Custom BUD vinyl speaker, vinyl decals from the sticky plastic hands of Pop Cling, and several of our plush creations. Gwarrr.




Short Fuse!
Jamungo 9" Blank BUD Exhibit
Jamungo has been kind enough to supply dozens of blank 9" BUD figures for this year's FX Vinyl Show. Hicalorie was invited to mash and splash around on one of the BUD figures for this years show, taking home some fond memories of getting corkscrews stuck in its head, losing its right leg and on more than one occasion throwing it at a wall in frustration. The doll was fitted with 2 X USB powered audio speakers and can now be plugged into (and powered by) a laptop or mp3player. Finally the BUD toy is finished and on its way back to Florida USA where it will be put back with its friends on display at the show. Thanks to Jamungo & MLJ for letting us play. ^_^

Turbo RAD!
Following the recent Ningyo Project's launch in San Diego this month with the Tokidoki Gosho Doll. Super Rad Toys have a lineup of artists ready to combine the traditional form of the Japanese Gosho doll with contemporary graphics from some of today's hottest designers. The eye wateringly good Hicalorie version of 12" Vinyl gosho is due to release alongside such other pixelchefs and illustration pirates as Frank Kozik, Dalek, Craola, Donny Miller, Tara McPherson, Den (FUCT) and Plasticgod sometime early next year. mmmm

Super RAD!
The Ningyo Project is an ongoing project that has no end. It is an exploration in interpretation. Sensibilities and a platform for idealogies played out in a three dimensional medium. The canvas is blank, only the form remains the same. The project is designed to create a connection between the artest and the collector. Brought to you by SuperRad Toys It is a study between traditional and contemporary art. Look out for more on the Hicalorie gosho doll soon!

Colour Me!
What started with a game of photoshop tennis between Sune Ehlers and Jon Burgerman and later became the glorious 'Hello Duudle' inspired a workshop event which has since seen its way to 5 different countries and the pages of its own book. Colour me, Pictoplasma! Heres a quick shout to Sune & Jon after we returned today covered in ink with sore wrists and scribbling fingers from the latest Colour Me workshop in Berlin. We had a great time trying to use our rainbow to do a go-over on Nanospore's spore tank, but it just kept pushing in front! Now Then!
The super-cute-if-a-little-pokey gallery/store 'Best' is yet again venue to Matt Sewell's faces, foxes, words and birds! Best has brought us opertunity to look but dont touch Matts work before in the past, this time last year there was Campfire Songs and before that there was The People Above the Clouds. This time the space is also featuring work from Pinky alongside Matt's, filled with limited edition prints, bright coloured card attacked with an exacto knife in magical ways, sweeties, postcards and screen prints. If you like things that are the BEST and your in the London area go peek through the window of the BEST SHOP EVER or better yet go inside. Much love to Matt for the drinks and smiles.

Me Llamo Jellyfish!
“Me Llamo Jellyfish” is a new design studio located in Central Florida that will be featuring many collaboration projects with different labels and brands including Yours Truley Hicalorie, and our glossyliscious friend Gavin Strange of Jam factory. “Peanut Butter & Jellyfish” will be a showing of talent and abilities, also a taste of things to come for MLJ. There will be painted canvases, vinyl toys, skate decks, and other painted mediums. Artist Nakanari will also be on site doing custom Munny designs. And the orgnisers have teamed up with Boblbee, Inc., Jamungo, and The Art of Gaming, to bring you an array of varied works and design. As a taster for things to come, we produced some sample plush toys in the shape of a timeless Nakanari character to be displayed at the show. Peanut Butter & Jellyfish will occur on Saturday, October 14th, at Überbot in Winter Park, Orlando, Florida.
