Good Day For A Duck...

BERJAYA

It's been raining since sometime yesterday, and today it was heavy at times. I was out running around and found these two ducks paddling around in water that had accumulated in a low spot next to a parking lot. They wouldn't sit still long enough for me to get the camera phone out and try to snap a quick photo. As I sit here writing this, the rain has turned to snow, and is starting to come down pretty heavy. It will be interesting to see how long this lasts...

Bagpiper

BERJAYA

On our recent trip to Cafe Hollander, we noticed a lot of men wearing kilts coming in and heading to the dining area on the second floor of the bar. Given Milwaukee's penchant for celebrating its many heritages, we really didn't think much of it. Until the bagpiper started playing. That certainly got the attention of everyone in the place, and just about everyone was wearing a smile while the music was filling the room.

Smokestacks

BERJAYA

These smokestacks stand alone in a park in the Menomonee River valley. Left (apparently) as a reminder of the time when the entire valley was bustling with manufacturing industries, the area is undergoing a renaissance, with many new businesses building facilities to replace those that are gone.

Tropical

BERJAYA

One more shot from the Domes today... this one from the Tropical Dome. The temperature was somewhere close to 60 here today, so it sure felt tropical, at least compared to what we've had lately. Next week, we'll be taking Milwaukee Daily Photo on its first road trip, to Spring Training... after today, I'm ready to get on the plane and go!

Azaleas

BERJAYA

Walking into the Show Dome, I was greeted by a huge Azalea bush with these gorgeous, pink flowers. In the warm sun, looking at these flowers, I couldn't help but hope that spring was near.

Trains at the Domes

BERJAYA

The Mitchell Park Domes are hosting their annual model railroad show through March 22nd. This year's theme is "Lego Land". In the center of the dome is a Lego railroad and many buildings made of the popular colorful bricks. There is an additional G-scale garden railway around the outside of this, meandering through the many plants and flowers on the floor of the dome.

Under Construction

BERJAYA

This construction site is in the Menomonee River Valley, just east of Miller Park. I had stopped to shoot a couple lone smokestacks in the park across the street, but these beams standing alone caught my attention as I was driving off.
