Hello, everyone! 

Thank you all for your patience and all the work you put into your game. We received over 100 submissions and played through each game to find our winners. This wasn't an easy task since we got so many great games! Drumroll please...

Our third place winner: Kittyconomy!

Kittyconomy is a wholesome on-rails shooter that teaches you how to run your fishy business without letting it flounder. This game taught the importance of reading the fine print for loans to take out while providing fun and exciting gameplay to save the most money. No bank is going to repossess our fishy store!

Our second place winner: Super Coupon Club!

Super Coupon Club is a deck building roguelike where you utilize your coupons to take down the Corporate Super Mart. We had a lot of fun coming up with new strategies to earn the most money. The game is incredibly polished and flows smoothly through every round!

And last, but not least...

Our first place winner: $ave our Summer!

$ave Our Summer is a fun, educational game about budgeting wants and needs. This game was very aligned with our financial literacy goals and taught a tough skill into something fun and tangible for a variety of players. We enjoyed helping the citizens of Somerville plan their budgets to get their end of summer goal!

We also want to give a shout-out to some runner ups!

• Antique Antics: An incredibly fun shop simulator where you negotiate prices to save money and earn the most profit!
• Odd Jobs: A fun mini-game excursion to earn the most profit through working short gigs and investing in the stock market!
• BUDGET RU$H: An endless runner where you budget your money into wants, needs, and savings through climbing up the corporate ladder!

When you submit a game to the jam, you own the game that you have made. If you are selected as a winner, there may be a conversation of making the game exclusive for Coolmath Games.

Due to the varying contest rules in other countries, we can only select US residents to be winners of the game jam. However, we're sure to receive a lot of great games from the jam that we may want to offer non-exclusive licenses to, which are open to non-US residents.

Hi 31math62! Cybersecurity sounds like a great topic to teach!

Hi MarySue! We would recommend steering away from document forging/bribes that could be enticing to the player as that is a bit of a darker and more mature subject.

Hi Stand Gaming LLC! Games that have light combat are suitable for our audience. As you mentioned, we do have tower defense games on our site and we also have some games that have RPG combat and platformers that have light fighting mechanics to defeat enemies. Admittedly, Awesome Tanks 2 is an older game that we licensed years ago and today, would probably not have licensed.

We avoid games that explicitly mention death or use mature weapons such as guns/bullets.

Hi Jroxic Studios! It really depends on how educational the puzzles are that the player has to solve. However, an entry like this would not be disqualified from the jam.

Hi MochiPopGames! Please resubmit your game with a playable game. We understand reserving a space in the jam, we would just not want the game submission to redirect to a 404 page. It's okay if the game you submit is not fully functional or working correctly at this time, as judging will start after June 7. You can also update your game as many times as you like before the jam ends.

Hi all! Our financial literacy games are aimed towards teaching high-school level financial literacy courses. We want our games to be accessible to a variety of audiences and our general audience is very diverse. We hope this helps answer your questions!

Hi Beautiful Mind Games! Yes you can set your game to play in fullscreen mode for the jam. However, please keep in mind that the games that will go on our site need to be playable without requiring users to go fullscreen.

Hi SirLich! As stated in the rules, you can use assets not made by you or your team so long as you have obtained the proper license for them. The line in our detailed rules is meant to apply to the rule on the itch.io page. So long as you have the license to use the assets or they are open source, your game will not be disqualified from the jam. We apologize for the confusion!

Hi OzBit! The US-only rule only applies to games that are selected as the winners of the game jam. We still encourage developers outside of the US to participate in the jam. We're sure we'll get a lot of great games from this jam and while we can't select them all to be the top 3 winners, there is a possibility to still work with us on a nonexclusive license for the game if it closely aligns with the theme.

Hi all, thank you for creating this thread. We apologize for the confusion and would like to clarify.

When you submit a game to this game jam, we DO NOT take ownership of the game. Developers will still maintain all ownership of their games. When we select our 3 winners, we intend to promote those games on our financial literacy page and there will be a conversation of getting exclusivity for it. However, games that are not selected as winners are still the property of the developers.

This portion of the rules is meant to use the games as a way to promote and celebrate the creations from the game jam. When a game is submitted and it abides by our rules, your game will be featured in the Submissions on our game page. We own the submission of the game used in the jam, but this does NOT mean the games become our property. We have no intention of retrieving the source code from the games or taking control of the game's IP in any way.

We hope this helps clear up some confusion regarding the statement.
