The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS Sept. 27, 2025

Is it Friday? Really? Are you sure? Okay, then, I’m here with your Stream of Consciousness Saturday prompt. I don’t know if Mercury is in retrograde, but so many of my mechanical and technical devices are doing weird things. Just me? Or are you seeing it too? Here’s this week’s prompt:

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “eek/eke.” Use one, use both (for bonus points), use ’em however you see fit. Enjoy!

After you’ve written your Saturday post tomorrow, please link it here to this week’s prompt page and check to make sure it’s here in the comments so others can find it and see your awesome Stream of Consciousness post. Anyone can join in!

To make your post more visible, use our beautiful SoCS badge! Just paste it in your Saturday post so people browsing the reader will immediately know your post is stream of consciousness and/or pin it as a widget to your site to show you’re a participant. Wear it with pride!

EEK! The mosquito bit Katie on the cheek, causing her to upset the canoe. They were taking a river trip for the weekend, and she hadn’t planned on tipping over. Her sister, Susan, popped out of the water laughing as Katie rubbed the bite mark on her cheek. Susan was seeking all of her belongings in the creek. Their sister Roslyn was meek and was afraid to go on these outings because they almost always tip over. She wasn’t with them this time either. Katie couldn’t wait to tell Roslyn all about this trip either.

Once they had everything packed up and back in the canoes they headed on. Up ahead were the rapids, and those almost certainly meant tipping over again.

Weekly Prompt Challenge – word is imagine

************

Suzanna stared blankly at the wreckage of her car in the middle of the highway, where she had crashed with a semi tractor trailer and totaled her car almost completely. She had a woebegone look on her face as she knew that the accident was her fault, and so she would probably be charged with reckless driving, and her parents would be furious, she could only imagine. The only good thing was that no one was hurt.

3 Daily Writing Prompts including Fandango and the 3TC and The Writer’s Workshop.

Today’s post includes 3 daily writing prompts and the writer’s workshop.

FOWC. The word is finance.

The 3TC #MM186. The three words are spin, spend and search.

The Daily Spur Challenge. The word is scratch.

The Writer’s Workshop. The word is wild.

**********

Gary went on a wild goose chase. He was trying to increase his finances and was searching for his scratch-off tickets. He didn’t want to spend that much money, but one scratch-off ticket won’t win you much.

He decided to spin the slot machines at the casino. He actually hit several larger games, and he debated playing again or just saving what he had. He went wild and continued to play the slot machines. He actually went home with $1000. Not a bad play if he said so himself.

4 Daily Writing Prompts including Fandango and the 3TC

Today’s post includes 4 daily writing prompts.

FOWC. The word is pen.

The 3TC #MM184. The three words are row, argument, and silly.

RDP. The word is rocket ship.

The Daily Spur Challenge. The word is window.

**********

Randy stared out of the window of the rocket ship. He felt silly getting excited over a trip to the moon on this brand new science that created a rocket ship that can travel to the moon and offered a contest for the trip. He took out the pen that carried the name of the company who sponsored the trip.

Roger had a row with his brother Randy over who should actually get the trip. The argument went on for weeks before Randy was finally declared the winner of the contest for the trip to the moon.

Melissa’s Fandango Flash Fiction Challenge #338

BERJAYA

Hello! Welcome to Melissa’s Fandango Flash Fiction Challenge. Each week I will post an image I grab off the internet and challenge bloggers to write a flash fiction piece or a poem inspired by the image. There are no style or word limits.

The image below is from Getty Images.

BERJAYA

The image depicts a green patterned couch with floral embellishments. The couch is in a room with wood flooring and a wood paneled wall with two doors. A woman is lying on the couch; the woman wears purple stockings and green striped flats. Her eyes are closed, and she rests her head on her arm on one of the arms of the sofa. A book or journal is opened and laid across her.

If this week’s image inspires you and you wish to participate, please write your post and use the tag #FFFC. Please create a pingback to this post and/or manually add your link in the comments. I hope it will generate some great posts. Don’t forget to stop back and read/comment on the posts of others. Thank you for participating!

Tammy was taking a nap, and when she woke up (or so she thought), she found herself wearing a gingham green-checked dress with purple stockings and green striped flat shoes. She was lying on a green-checked couch, and on top of her lay a huge journal, which she was either reading or looking at pictures. She was completely confused about the whole thing. She didn’t even recognize the room. What happened? Did she take narcotics? Did someone try to drug her?

Here are this week’s questions and my answers.

  1.  What colour was your school uniform (if you had one)? We did not wear school uniforms, but our school colors were blue and white.
  2.  When working, did you have to wear a uniform or dress colour code? While working no colors or uniforms were required.
  3.  What is your favourite colour to wear? I don’t wear it much, but I prefer teal or light green. In the summer, I wear black shorts and assorted color t-shirts. Winter mainly consists of dark sweats and multi-colored t-shirts.
  4.  What colour would you never wear unless there was no alternative? Probably yellow or pink.

The 3TC #MM183. The three words are music, dwell, and dream.

RDP. The word is dulcet.

The Daily Spur Challenge. The word is pony.

**********

The dulcet tones of her little girls singing music from the past were part of the mother’s dream. She didn’t want to dwell on the old music her mother taught her, as it made her sad, and tears dripped down from her eyes as the memories took hold in her nighttime dreams. She missed the little girls every night since they had died in the house fire. They were only ten at the time.

Tonight’s dreams were of carousels with lovely ponies. The dulcet tones of her little girls were enhanced by the dreams she was having.

Robert put on his backpack and headed to the gym for exercise and his job as a hitman. He was dramatic when it came to tailing a job and making the hit. Only the victim knew it was him. Robert was part of the underground, and he was their best shot. Nothing could deter him from finishing his job and killing whoever he was assigned to.

FOWC. The word is integrated.

The 3TC #MM181. The three words are plenty, shambles, and curse .

RDP. The word is mushroom.

The Daily Spur Challenge. The word is charm.

WOTD. The word is patrol.

**********

Archie had plenty of items spread out across the table and glanced at the spell book he was working from. His worktable was a shambles, and items were integrated for the curse he was working on.

He had to go outside to find a specific mushroom from his mushroom shed. The spell was to make him charming and more in charge while on patrol. His partner always ran the show, and he wanted to take charge himself.
