The formerly-Catholic Society of St Pius X triggered the schism by consecrating bishops without the Pope’s approval, a key part of the ceremony for Catholic believers.
The group has fought with the broader Church for decades on Vatican II reforms. This included things like “Mass should be offered in languages other than Latin” — but SSPX is generally seen as mostly being opposed to Vatican II’s attempt at building peace between Catholicism and people of Jewish & Muslim faiths.

Don’t leave your friends and even acquaintances to go to the hospital alone. If they don’t have someone already going with them and don’t explicitly tell you they don’t want you there, go to advocate for them. Outcomes for sick people change dramatically when they have someone else there to observe doctors (making them know they can’t get away with negligence) and note symptoms from an outside perspective.
Going to the hospital is scary and even someone totally unprepared to be a medical advocate or physical support will be better than nothing, purely from their presence. You can grab food, be there with your phone to search if theirs dies, go in search of a doctor, distract them from pain or discomfort… go with them.

it sucks that the overwhelming majority of medical messaging around salt/sodium is “evil poisonous substance that you’re definitely already eating way too much of,” because like. you do still need it. (trust me, as a POTS-haver, I’ve had to completely rewire my own brain about salt.) and you need more salt when the entire northern hemisphere is hot enough to fry an egg on. ever tried sucking down the recommended 64oz of hydration per day entirely as water, only to find you’re peeing constantly without any of the purported benefits of being “hydrated”? assuming you don’t have another medical condition that causes frequent urination, your body probably needed more salt/electrolytes to be able to hold onto that water and make use of it. if there was ever a time to keep a sports drink/pedialyte/etc within constant reach, it’s when the heat index is 110°F/43°C.
Adding this on too, just in case if someone doesn’t want to or can’t make it out to a store for electrolyte beverages. This is one list but there are others for foods that have them too, and if you have those foods around don’t feel like you have to spend more on sports drinks if they’re already in your home (though the snack route assumes you are drinking sufficient water in the first place).
This may be different elsewhere but I know where I live hydration beverages like Gatorade and Pedialyte unfortunately have a significant mark up or may be sold out in this weather, so it’s nice to have alternatives.
The WebMD page also has examples of what each electrolyte does for your body and what some symptoms may be if they are in deficit.
Op is absolutely correct that especially in this heat, a bit of extra sodium is not your enemy.
wretched beginning, wretched end
It’s tricky for me to talk about this stuff because it can very easily tip over into being straight-up victim-blaming, so I struggle a lot to articulate a healthier wording of it. But I suppose what I’m trying to say is that most of what we go through in life is a process of selecting interpretations and picking out examples of how a particular interpretation is correct. If you believe everyone is a huge antisocial asshole, it will just become a fact of the world as impossible to contest as like, the sun rising and falling everyday. Everything filtered through that belief, every positive example a giant neon sign in your brain casting every negative example into obscurity, affecting how you interact with the world, affecting how the world interacts with you, just endless feedback loops.
I’m thinking about the weird terf comment I got earlier in the morning and how the most cursory possible look through their blog revealed just a tar pit of misery, no joy to be derived even from talking to other terfs, no real sense of fellowship, any kind of happy emotion some kind of neurochemical trick that they have to suppress in order to continue seeing the world for “what it is.” The problem is that they aren’t wrong: the world is precisely as miserable as they perceive it to be and no more nor less, because there really is nothing to the world but what you perceive
