Over at hih_greathall, there is a Fandom showdown - 24 hour rounds. The Adam Lambert fans have been picking people off one by one. And this round, they're attacking Dean Winchester!!! DEAN!

Hiatus Project

Hi guys, this is my first post here. I checked the rules and this seems to fit with the idea of the community, since it's supporting Supernatural.

I'm trying to put together a project to take as a gift to the actors and crew in Vancouver when I go for the convention in August.

Details are here and here. The details for making submissions are here and I've extended the deadline for sample submissions to next Monday, July 6, at 5 p.m. Eastern.

Please note that this is NOT a typical "fanzine." This is NOT a collection of fanfiction and this is NOT a collection of fanart about Dean, Sam, etc. This is a mock-up magazine designed for hunters. Think Hunter's Digest or something like that. NO recognizable Supernatural characters will make an appearance here. This is a magazine FOR hunters, not about them. It has nothing to do with fanfic or slash or any of that stuff we all cringe about when we think about the actors finding out about.

I wanted to create something that's a completely original work but could exist in the world of Supernatural. Something inspired by the show but not copying any of its characters or storylines. This would be a magazine hunters would look to and read for new information, for ads on where to buy ammunition or bronze knives, this is a magazine that reviews safehouses where hunters are welcome, a magazine that would give background information on various creatures. There would be editorials and Dear Abby kind of letters, asking for advice on how to handle hunting related situations.

But I need help. I can't do this alone. I need artists and writers to help me put this together. I thought it would be a fun project but my goal is to create a professional looking, completely original magazine about hunting that can be given as a gift to the actors and the crew when I go to the convention in Vancouver.

Please help me make this project a reality; I think it would be a great gift for the actors and a really fun way to pass the hiatus for us.

I apologize if this is not allowed here...as I said, looking over the community's rules seemed to indicate that this was okay.

The CW announced today that "fan favorite" Supernatural returns on Thursday, September 10, after the premiere of the Vampire Diaries. Smallville has been moved to Friday, with America's Next Top Model, which I don't mind in the least!

Now that I'm back from brief vacation and settled back into boring old school life, I'm ready to get cracking on this rewatching thing. It's been AGES since I watched the old episodes! And yes, I know I've been ridiculously incompetent. I swear I'm getting better at this.

So, how's this Saturday (June 20) sound? We're obviously starting with the pilot, and how far we get depends on who shows up and what we're feeling up for.

If it helps, MDT (Mountain Daylight time, my time, which is EST-2 and PST+1) is GMT/UTC-7. I'm really sorry about that, it's extra hassle for me to figure out too. Blargh. :(

SPN Fan Gathering (NC)

Among multiple fandoms, there has been discussions and suggestions that we should have a state-by-state mini-con situation for the summer/fall. Going off morgandawn's suggestion of fan gatherings, I volunteered to be the NC SPN person since I'm centrally located right in the middle of North Carolina. What I need to know is the following:

A) Are there any NC (or SC/GA/VA if you're willing to drive:) fans who would like to gather together for a day of hanging out to talk about SPN?

B) If so, are there certain dates (or months) that work best for you? Or are there any dates that absolutely cannot work for you?

C) Also, since I'm offering to do the SGA and SH mini-con gatherings as well, there's pondering of combining one or two of these into the same event if there's not enough interest in just one fandom, so let me know if you absolutely want a pure SPN gathering or if a multi-fandom event would be okay.

Please leave me a comment if you're interested (or if you have questions). I'm probably aiming for something after July, since I'm busy with Shoreleave until then.

summer spn support activities

HI EVERYONE. I know you're all extremely excited/nervous/worried/something else/all of the above about the finale tonight like I am, but just in case I survive it (even with my heart broken) I want to have a plan in place for making the summer hiatus seem not quite so terribly long.

And I know I've been a bad mod, but trust me, I will be available this summer. I'll be taking the last classes I need to get my degree and all my friends will have graduated already and I will literally have NO LIFE.

So! I propose that between the finale and the next season (btw, does anyone know the exact date that the fifth season begins? because I haven't the faintest clue, I'm just assuming it's sometime in the fall) we watch ALL of the supernatural episodes, IN ORDER from the pilot. Or rather, start with the pilot, go in order, and see how far we get before the hiatus is over. Which, assuming that people actually show up to the orgies, will probably be all of them.
