So much for sorting flat/garden by end of April - somewhat derailed by the fact that I missed the last 4-5 steps going down the fire escape into the garden 10 days ago. It's not a good idea to fall down a cast iron fire escape. Even worse when you've got an armful of 6ft long unplaned planks with which to make raised beds which means you can't put your hands down and you end up hitting yourself in the face with said planks. In short? OW!
Then there was Echo 1 (7th-9th May) guests were lovely and amusing and confirms - if ever there was any doubt - that Joss works with nice people.
Monday was Con recovery day (Saturday night was ridiculously late, and the trip home involved a Northern Line which was not functioning, travelling via Wimbledon and lots of Very Rowdy Chelsea supporters - I do not think Tube trains are supposed to bounce like that on the tracks)!
Tuesday afternoon/Wednesday morning was a flying trip to visit gingerpig's lovely, freshly decorated abode and involved lots of chat and laughter and wine and good food and catering (or in my case washing up) for the ladies at the church.
I may have taken a detour home on Wednesday afternoon via the bead shops off Carnaby Street and Covent Garden to purchase supplies for my jewellery class (*koff* goodbye money *koff*). I haven't mentioned the jewellery class have I?
Thursday was continuing the tidying up here, plus jewellery class in the pm (wirework is fun).
Today I have been utterly banjaxed.
I've also spent way too long over the last week on LJ and need to deal with that.
First there was N-gate and associated posts (many of which were both illuminating and interesting).
Followed by yet another pro-author going yet another round saying how much they "despise" fanfic and how it "shows a paucity of imagination". I'd link you to the post but alas it has been bahleeted and said author now thinks "the goal of this small number of fanfic people is to drive me off LJ, ultimately." To which one can only say - Dear Author...
(a) You are most definitely reading the wrong fanfic and I haz links to prove my point should you want them *G* (b) your work is hardly staggeringly original if even I can spot the tropes and "hommages" (c) your knickers are showing big time (d) as a PR pro can I say you can't *buy* the kind of good PR that fans can generate (e) the flip side is word gets around fast when you're making a prat of yourself online (f) your e.g.'s showed how fans keep a shows/books alive/in cultural memory (g) Woah! Delusions of grandeur much? (h) whilst I may read your books I will for damn sure not be buying them as I have this thng about not financing people who "despise" what I do for a hobby.
As we're up to show finales I've reading reaction posts. I need to rewatch SPN 5.22 and Vampire Diaries rocked it hard core. I will be over here in a corner mourning the passing of FlashForward which - after a shaky mid season - had started to pick up again.
Now I'm off to bed as I have epic amounts of gardening to do tomorrow which involve wielding power tools so I need to be well rested before plugging myself - in as it were.
PS: This week's episode of Justified was poetry in motion as was Timothy Olyphant who can say more by taking half a dozen steps across a stage than most actors can with 3 pages of dialogue.
