I had the most interesting conversation with Miss Chang last evening. Apparently, she had been doing research on the animagus transformation in her spare time, and had a few questions.

One particular question caught my attention. She asked why people would choose to become animagi, and I realised that I could not remember my own reasons for doing so. Thinking back on my memories of the time period, the reason came to me. I may not have known it at the time, but the reason I became an animagus is the same reason I have for almost everything I do lately: to help in the fight against the Dark Arts.

For many years, I have discreetly listened in on conversations between dark wizards while skulking in shadows large enough for a cat, yet too small for many other beings. I do not know what help my intelligence has given the Order, but I do know that it has helped at least some.

Perhaps I might suggest that Miss Chang join the Order of the Phoenix? She certainly has the necessary intelligence to find missing pieces of the puzzles that obstruct those who help in more physical ways, and her skills as Seeker on her house quidditch team certainly add to the agility necessary to stay well hidden and to get away, should she be caught.

There is one trait that Miss Chang lacks, however. She is a little afraid of the authority she has been given, afraid that she will either be misrespected or be a hated tyrant to the prefects she governs. That is not a trait that cannot be learned, however, so I will observe how well she relates in the following year.

If she has done well after a time, and seems confident in her leadership, then I may introduce the Order to her. Who knows? Perhaps Miss Chang may decide to become an animagus later on herself, and take on a few of my responsibilities; I may have imagined it, but the other day, I thought I was losing my hearing for a bit.
