You don’t see ME…The Wedding… Epilogue... I
They had stayed at the Reception practically right until the end... enjoying dancing in each other’s arms... savouring every moment of doing something different... something neither would ever do again... dance at their own wedding that is... there would be many dances to come... but tonight it had been just the two of them delighting in being a normal couple... doing things normal couples do... like getting married... having a formal sit down meal with exotic foods and plenty of cake and champagne... followed by dancing and more champagne...
They had both taken pleasure in tasting many glasses of champagne but neither was drunk, just cosily merry... the best feeling of all... feeling so happy... elated... completely at peace with the world... that was how they both felt.
They had especially loved watching all their friends and family enjoying themselves so heartily... even the Doctor had waltzed a few young ladies around the floor, including Ianto’s niece Mischa and his sister Rhiannon... she had wanted more information about what Jack and Ianto did at work... but the Doctor played the innocent card very easily. Amy and Rory were dancing, arms wrapped around each other, swaying in unison – it wasn’t often they had a chance at a little piece of normality. Martha and Mickey were so pleased to be able to take time away from UNIT and the terror that encapsulated the work it brought to them.
Apart from all eyes being on the newly married couple, there was one couple who were drawing attention to themselves as the evening wore on...
Tosh and Owen had hardly left each other’s side ... apart from the odd trip to the bar and a quick visit for nature’s relief! Once they had started dancing with each other, a spark had ignited and brought forth a whole firework display of emotions ... nearly as spectacular as the real firework display that Jack had organised for Ianto.
As they all stood on the roof... the huge displays filled the skies over the Bay bringing the usual sighs of ‘ooohhs’ and aaaarhs’ but complete silence from Ianto as he became overwhelmed with the beauty in front of him... that was not only the firework display itself... but also that of his husband... it was not just his beauty on the outside that Ianto saw... it was the beauty within that shone through...
Ianto had often spoken to Jack about his life on the Estate in Newport and how alone he had felt... particularly when festivities were around like Christmas, Easter and even birthdays. But there was one day a year when the whole of the Estate got together to celebrate and that was Bonfire Night... a huge fire was lit on the patch of green in the centre of the Estate that looked down towards the sea... and everyone was there... everyone except the Jones’s family... Ianto had to watch from the window in his bedroom. He was never allowed to go and join in the fun...
Ianto’s Mam had been taken away on his 9th birthday – a day he would never forget. It was his fault of course... him and his silly birthday party ... well party for him, his Mam and his sister, Rhi. Nobody else was invited... nobody else would have come even if they were invited. Everything was going well... having a special tea with fish fingers, beans and chips... the birthday cake was there on the table waiting for him once he had cleaned his plate... then it happened...
The screams would stay with him forever... as he and Rhi were chatting over what had happened at school, their Mam had started screaming... when they turned around... they saw that she had put her hands into the chip pan oil and completely burned them. Rhi had rushed to help and had put the hands under the cold water but the impact of the sudden change in temperature had caused their Mam to collapse to the floor where she stayed until the ambulance had arrived.
She had told them that she thought she was doing the washing up and had confused the pan for the bowl in the sink... she did that a lot... getting confused... so she was taken to the psychiatric hospital where she stayed until she died... when Ianto was 16.
Ianto’s Da worked such long hours at the store... he took all the work he could get... they needed the money. When his master tailor business closed down, he had had to go and work in Debenhams just selling suits off the rack... such a come down for a skilled worker but that was his life and there was nothing he could do to change it.
So there was little money... none for birthdays or Christmas and definitely none for fireworks...
Ianto’s eyes filled with tears... happy tears... as he stood wrapped in Jack’s arms looking towards the skies at the brightest of colours cascading down to the sea. He didn’t think he had ever seen such a beautiful sight... it was right up there with the look on his husband’s face when his orgasm peaked... Ianto chuckled...
A familiar pair of lips kissed the back of his neck making him shudder...
“And what are you laughing at Mr Harkness-Jones?”
“I was gazing at the wonderful sight in the skies... thinking it must be one of the most perfect sights I have ever seen...”
“Oh? And? What are the others?”
“There is only one other perfect sight for me...”
“Really?”
“Oh yeah...” Ianto turned around in his husband’s arms and put his mouth right up to his ear... “watching you come... the look on your face... that is perfect... true perfection... I will never tire of seeing that look for as long as I live...”
Jack looked straight into Ianto’s eyes... he always thought he could never love this man more... and then... bingo... it happened all over again... he fell in love with him once more... he leant in and kissed Ianto passionately. They broke apart when they heard sudden gasps of admiration. Jack turned Ianto around to look at the sky... somehow the firework maker had managed to display a huge red heart in the sky and then down on the Quay was another display... this one rigid and the fireworks going off showed off ‘I Love You Ianto Forever’... more gasps, cheering and loud applause.
Ianto turned in his husband’s arms again...
“I will love you forever too... Jack Harkness-Jones...” Ianto said before gently kissing his husband... “Now let us say our farewells... we have an appointment...”
“An appointment? With whom?”
“With what...”
“OK... with what...”
Ianto put his mouth right up against Jack’s ear and sucked on the lobe... gently flicking his tongue over it again and again... he could feel Jack shuddering with each flick... he lowered his voice to a seductive tone...
“With a bottle of lube...” he said... wiggling his eyebrows...
Jack laughed out loud...
“Oh very subtle... Mr Harkness-Jones... very subtle...”
“Oh I find subtlety rather overrated at times... along with common sense! Now... let’s go!”
“Oh I love it when you are being a bossy bottom!” Jack chuckled...
“I’ll give you bossy bottom!” Ianto gently ghosted his hand over Jack’s rear end and then gave it a quick slap making Jack jump... and squeal...
Ianto laughed...
“Oooh I made you squeal like a girl...!”
“You did not... I do NOT squeal like a girl!”
“Did too... did too...”
“You are SO going to pay for that Mr. Harkness-Jones...”
“Promises promises...”
“I always keep my promises...” Jack growled...
