Pied Wheatear

nearly did not go for this bird though it was only about 40 miles away as the first instructions sounded as if the views would be distant -- thankfully we did go and what a cracking bird -- most shots with the 500 f4 and 2x

Caspian Gull part 1

came across a beautiful juvenile Caspian Gull at Walberswick / Southwold on the 17th; for a change it was not a case of a 500mm lens with 2x converter to produce a highly cropped image but I was able to get the images with the straight 300mm lens and in some instances it was too big to get in the frame a very nice change; second batch mainly flight images

Four-spotted Chaser

camera technology has certainly come a long way since I first started trying to do Swifts in flight -- you still get a lot of rubbish but off shots are way beyond what we could have expected with non-digital gear
all Canon 1D4, Canon 300 2.8 II and Canon 1.4 III
