Scott Pilgrim Reshoots

BERJAYA

In case you didn't read this on Collider.com last week, here's the full story:

Earlier tonight, Production Weekly tweeted that Edgar Wright’s Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, “is planning to return to Toronto for 3 additional days of photography.” We spoke with Wright and he elaborated on this vague update on the production. Wright said that they’re doing three days of pick-ups, meaning that they’re doing more nips and tucks. Said Wright, “[W]e are not even redoing one full scene, nor any action, just some bits and bobs and new jokes and beats that I wrote with [co-writer Michael] Bacall & [author Bryan Lee] O’Malley.” What I find more exciting is that Wright said some of the tweaks are because there’s some material from the sixth and final volume of the comics that is too good to leave out.

So if you’re paranoid that the film needs to be salvaged or anything like that, rest easy. The word coming out of the test screenings is highly positive. Wright also adds that his previous films, Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz also had a few days of re-shoots. If you can’t appreciate an old woman getting kicked in the face, then you can’t appreciate an Edgar Wright pick-up. You also probably can’t appreciate comedy. Or joy. Or any human emotion, really.

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World hits theaters on August 13th. Here’s Wright’s full response to Production Weekly’s tweet:

so yeah, it’s true what Production Weekly so inelegantly tweeted

we are doing 3 days of pick ups

and to be honest – I’m excited about it. It was my suggestion to the studio and the bits and pieces are all things that I want to tweak

truth is, some of it, is because we have material from Vol 6 that is impossible to resist and so even after a nearly a year of editing – it’s going to be fun to put some icing on the cake

we are not even redoing one full scene, nor any action, just some bits and bobs and new jokes and beats that I wrote with Bacall & O’Malley

if you guys want or feel inclined to put out any fire – I give you this comparison…

Both Shaun & Hot Fuzz had two and three days respectively of additional shooting. One of those bits was the granny being kicked in the face. I think we can all agree that was a good pickup.

just kidding

This was posted a few weeks ago on Edgar Wright's twitter, so it's safe to say this might be a joke added in the reshoots.
