Public Pumpkin Project (update)

The Public Pumpkin project will be on October 28th. Carving will begin in Grange Park at 1pm (BYO pumpkin and carving tools; though some people may be willing to share the latter). After about an hour and a half, anyone who wants to skip the group carve (but why would you want to do such a thing) can come by, and we'll head out to decorate the city with our new jack-o-lanterns.

Everyone is responsible for figuring out how to keep their own pumpkin lit (either coming back to light it, using long lasting candles or flares, or maybe just dropping a turtle light in there and leaving it on), and also for collecting it in early November (because we're decorating the city, not littering).

Also, anyone who brings a bike with a lot of basket/trailer space, or a wagon, or some other light (i.e. not a car or anything) pumpkin moving device is sure to be hailed as a hero by the masses without such tools, who will be spared from having to lug their pumpkins around!

Again, Grange Park (at the North end of John St., just S of the AGO), Sat. Oct. 28, 1pm.

First off, BIG THANKS to everyone who replied / messaged / sent their love and hope for my katten origin..
can't afford the orthopedic surgery.. which sucks balls, but the vet has been really nice and is fixing him up so he can walk .. with only a slight limp.. i'm picking him up tommorrow (THursday) so expect a few pictures of the gimpy mofo. :) god i was scared.. no internal bleeding.. and just a fucked up leg.

on another note, as some of you know the joyous news.. here comes the open post about where i am now in life:

Last Week, received the DNA test, in regards to the baby my ex Kat had in november.... guess what! i'm the father of a Beautiful 5 month year old baby girl, named Ava! i wish i hadn't missed the first 5 months of her life, but i will -always- be a good father to her.... yes. i'm a fucking father! fucked up eh!

as a celebration for this joyous occasion, my fellow Network 23 buddies / some of my friends are forcing me Throw A Party To Celebrate! Get Shitfaced!'...sooooooo. yes, SATURDAY APRIL 24TH, there is another network23 shindig.. aptly titled.. NETWORK 23 PRESENTS: AN IMPROMPTU EVENT!!1!.. meaning not THIS saturday, but NEXT saturday

As for the pictures? I know many of them are a little fuzzy, blurred, dark, etc ... I tend not to use the flash excessively, since in an environment like this, I find it awfully intrusive when flashbulbs go off every few seconds ... it's harsh on the eyes when you're sober, let alone if one's pupils are wide open ;) ...

Besides, the CCD on the camera I was using works wonders with low light and paints some nifty effects ... but it requires a very steady hand and little movement, since it will take it up to a very slow shutter speed.

One of the other DJs in the side room ... does anyone know this guy's name, DJ or otherwise? I know I got introduced, but I remember few of the small details of the evening. This guy spun a purely flawless session. I couldn't even get a clear shot of him, since he didn't even so much as blink as he pored over the three turntables he had going.

I told nitrate99 he had no choice ... he had to be here.

To make the evening even more complete ... ladynine brought my patches!! I can now officially bear the insignia of my agent number!

Hey Everyone, are you ready for tommorrow night?

Thats Right, another Network 23 shindig is tommorrow, and obviously you have RSVP'D or at least sent an email (hence this spam email *grins*)..

We are doing things a tad differently, and retroverting back to how shindigs used to be.. we have set a map location/meetup spot where we will be meeting up with people to 'Show Them Teh Way' to the party, which will be a short walk away..

MEETUP SPOT:

-Yonge and Queen, North East Corner near Queen Subway entrance (Big Glass Entry)

LOOK FOR:

-The Network 23 Logo Posted Around.. or a short blonde guy who looks like he hasn't slept in a week. Someone -will- be there every 30 minutes to show the way, with a Network 23 Shirt On.

TIMES:

-Starting at 9:30pm, going EVERY half an hour until 4:30am (Cut-Off Time/Last Run at 4:30am)

INFO:

-For 100% Entry, you have to RSVP.. due to capacity issues, there -is- a cut-off as we don't want to be squished in there. If you show up at the meetup spot/If you aren't on the RSVP list and haven't received a confirmation, well, you Might Not Get In, as we have previous disclosed the above 'capacity' limitor,. don't let that disuade you from bringing a friend or two though :)

when?

The Morning of Thursday February 12th at 7:30 AM sharp!
(yes it's very early so get some rest or stay up all night the night before)
*If you don't think you can wake up on your own set up a phone tree with
friends....you don't want miss all the fun do you?
*the party is scheduled this early because there has been great success at
previous parties which have been this early. Everybody on the train loves
the party because they are all on the way to work or on the way home from
their night shift and they need some cheering up. most of us aren't morning
people..but this is worth it.

where?

The north end of the platform at Downsview Station...once you get there just
look for the other freaks.
*it takes about 20 min to get to Downsview from Spadina Station

what?

picture this.....

A normal early morning on the subway car. Suddenly people start to decorate the train with streamers and balloons and home-made art. People on the train exchange strange glances.

Next stop - a drummer and other musicians get on the train and start to play music. More strange looks. Next stop, a giant fish and people in other silly costumes get on the train and start dancing, inviting others to join in. The cold mood of the train melts into a wonderful and unexpected celebration!!!!! hoooray it's a subway party!!!!

a subway party is a great way to start your day and it's the ultimate cure
for the February Blahs...... you can dance, laugh, dress up, play
instruments, make art, talk to strangers and participate in spontaneous acts of creativity and kindness. if you think of something you'd like to see at the subway party...bring it on!

*Another good trick to do is to dress up like an every day subway rider (you could wear a business suit, a school uniform, whatever). Sit and stare in awe as the party begins, but when someone asks you to dance, let your hair down, loosen your tie and get down! Other people on the train will be inspired by your liberation and they may join in on the grooviness.

how long will be party?

The party usually lasts between 1.5-2hrs. That is enough time to ride the
U-line. Usually about a 1.5 hrs into the party, the TTC security catches up
with us and asks us kindly (and with obvious regret) to shut down the party.

At that point we are usually up north at the other end of the U and ride
back downtown together. There is always the option of getting on to the
Bloor line for a bit more partying, but it's also nice (for those who don't
have to leave for work, school or other commitments) to go get some cheap breakfast together.

why?

because nobody talks to each other on the subway let alone look each other
in the eye!

because on a cold thursday morning nobody expects a celebration and that is
likely just when we all need one!

because subway parties are a great way to overcome apathy, loneliness and
bitterness among other nastiness!

because subway parties are the ultimate cure for the February Blahs and
other winter induced syndromes!

because the subway is a great alternative to smog producing cars!

because you'll never feel the same on the subway after you've been to a
subway party!

because it's an idea that has been capturing peoples imagination and you can
help to make it happen!

because people you'll never forget the look on peoples faces when the
streamers and balloons go up and the party starts.

because it's boring to have your fun packaged, sold and served to you in a
nice tidy little package.

because there is no better way to start your day than to dance with a
stranger on the subway!

because you could make someones day!

because it's a great (and cheap) way to have fun!

SOOOOOOO.....

start planning now. get your party gear together and figure out how you can
wake up early enough to get to the party.

swallowmydna: after working in london for two weeks, and coming back the night 24 hours before the event / stressed beyond hell, and still keeping it together. we got shit pulled together and threw a great shindig! sucks we lost money. but hells, people partied their ass off!!!!
