A FIRST LOOK AT INDEPENDENT HORROR-COMEDY “THE NIGHT SHIFT”

Pre-production is well underway for Mobile, Alabama based filmmaking group Fighting Owl Films’ independent feature “The Night Shift”, and now you can get your first look at the film’s lead characters. Coinciding with an overhaul of the official website for “The Night Shift”, an online gallery has been added featuring publicity photos of the lead characters, Rue Morgan, Herbie West and Claire Rennfield as portrayed by Khristian Fulmer, Soren Odom and Erin Lilley, respectively. Also available to download from the site are two official desktop wallpapers for “The Night Shift” featuring the leads facing off against the film’s menacing creatures.

The film and filmmakers have received a great deal of support, encouragement and positive buzz from the online community and are looking forward to getting production underway this summer. The feature is based on Fighting Owl Films' short film of the same name which proved an online hit, was positively reviewed in "Fangoria" magazine's online edition earlier in 2009 and has screened in several festivals across the United States.

A supernatural adventure-comedy, “The Night Shift” centers on Rue Morgan, the undead night watchman at Pinewood Oaks Cemetery. Rue, along with his buddy Herb, a limbless corpse, spends his nights trying to keep the cemetery’s cantankerous residents in, and his days dreaming of a date with hard-nosed day-shifter, Claire. It’s an okay afterlife until a scourge of supernatural occurrences leaves Rue not only watching the cemetery, but also watching his back!

To stay abreast of all the latest production developments and updates, please become a fan of Fighting Owl Films on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Fighting-Owl-Films/73399032976) and follow them on Twitter (http://twitter.com/FightingOwlFilm). She also loves other dogs, cats, and has
been great with kids so far.
Since she looks like a pit bull, and we found her at the polling place
on Election Day, we're calling her Sarah :)

She has a light load of heartworms, which we're working on getting
treated as well as spaying her (with many thanks to the Friends of the
Mobile Animal Shelter and Bama Bully Rescue!)

If you know of anyone who might be interested, or can just put this
flyer up in a few places or pass it on to your friends lists on
MySpace, LJ, Facebook, etc. We're moving in December and just can't
afford another dog.

Thanks for your help!

Noel

Random Project - Any Help Is Appreciated. :-)

First off, thank you mod for letting me post this... :-)

I'm making this traveling notebook for my son, and one for my brother. I'm pretty much trying to find, one or a few people from each of the 50 states for this notebook (well, both notebooks). They both travel together and will be passed on to someone else in the USA so postage costs shouldn't be much when posting out again. What I'm looking at doing is having everyone put a state map postcard, or a descriptive postcard from their state - so it has the silhouette of the state with the state bird, flower, something like that... write about your state, what you like about the state, what your life is like... add photos, and just plain be creative with the books... when you've put in your entry and your happy with it - I'll give you the next address which will probably be in a neighboring state and you send it onto the next "host". You can write the same in both of the books... that's not a problem at all... :-) I've been rounding up people for the books, but they've just been sent out today to Washington (from Australia)....

So yeah, if anyone would like to help that'd be great and contact me by commenting here, email at sara.ringham@gmail.com or just message me on here and we'll go from there... if you have any questions let me know as well - it's after midnight so I'm sure I've missed out on something... thanks for helping anyone that is interested in helping me out!

Puppy for Adoption

So yeah. I sort of rescued a puppy.

He was chained up with no shelter, food, or water, and I never once saw anyone come near enough to touch him.

So I took him (with permission).

But the pound won't take him- they claim he's got pit in him. Now, I own a half-pit. This puppy does not have enough pit in him to be worth mentioning. He's a lab mix. He's got a little Boxer look to his face, but he's not a pit bull.

But what that means is that he needs a home, and fast. I'm not home enough for a puppy, and neither is Chris. We both work 12-14 hours a day, and all the local rescues are completely full-up. I don't know what to do- I can't put him out on the street, but no one can take him.

He's rapidly getting crate-trained, about 3 mos old, and I got him wormed and rabies vac'd. He's put on a good bit of weight already, and already looks healthy. He's a really good puppy, I just don't have the time to train a puppy. He's already halfway leash-trained (20 mins in B&B PetStop and he was walking next to me 80% of the time) and is rapidly getting toward housetrained after only 2 days. He's not a chewer, good with other dogs, cats, and every human being we've introduced him to.

Help, please?

Other then that it is a great guitar and plays great. I just have to many and need to get rid of some as i don't play them all.

The Crow Eric Draven talking plush numbered limited edition - $30

This Plush is numbered 413 out of 30,000.
the Ghosts Project + One Cut Kill, this Friday @ the Blind Mule

This weekend is The Ghosts Project, violin, drums, and bass from Atlanta. These three extraordinary musicians with such training and mastery over their instruments is rarely seen at a live local show. The sound ranges from Downtempo/Dub which incorporates loops and echo effects to excited modes from Africa and the Middle East. This group exudes a sensual energy with all the power of an orchestra and the energy between them and the crowd draws you in (instead of pushing away, as the volume and abrasiveness of so many bands does...)

If you have been waiting for the live music experience, the change-your-life religious experience that you know is possible, yet never seems to materialize, this is your show.

Paul Mercer has an international fanbase as a solo violinist and with one of his many projects, the Changelings; He has just completed a string of sold-out theater dates on the West Coast. This show will draw fans from New Orleans and Florida and other cities within driving distance of Mobile. If you're tired of the same crowd, this your chance to find those new faces from not-quite-so-far-away.

We are all in this scene together; this is a team effort on behalf of we who are trying to bring in eclectic acts and the audience that will participate in these "thinking-outside-the-box" events. I know we all want a constant stream of well-organized shows and unexpectadly-great performers, and things are going very well. We are lucky that things are on such an upturn in this town...

So it is with complete respect for the entire scene that I say this-- The Ghosts Project will be unlike any other show you will see here. There will be the drinking crowd and the party will be in effect, but if you are a fan of music, this is a higher form of art. This is a band that you watch and think "why are they playing here, shouldn't they be..."

The Ghosts Project
(with One Cut Kill)
at the Blind Mule
FRIDAY, Feb 22
10pm

http://www.myspace.com/theghostsproject

http://www.myspace.com/theblindmule

http://www.myspace.com/onecutkill

I'm not sure if this is allowed, so bear with me.

Buddy is a rescue- found, then abandoned again. He is a pit bull mix, and was left at my uncle's with no food, water, or shelter in the 30F weather we've been having!
He's staying with me right now, but I already have one dog and cannot afford another (yay for college student incomes). He is an absolute darling, I'd definitely keep him if I could. He loves attention, whether a good romp, or cuddling on the couch. He's quite well behaved, and likes both cats and children (although his overenthusiastic greetings can scare either at first!). He walks well on a leash and responds to basic commands. Buddy is about 50lbs, not yet neutered, and will make someone a great companion.

We are asking a $50 adoption fee to offset our expenses and make sure he reaches a good home, and a vet reference to ensure his care.

an amazing weekend coming up at the blind mule

coming up Thursday night (Sept 6) we have

the incredible Pony Pants who described themselves better than i could:

"The Brothers Ellis play complex, driving guitar riffs over smart, sweaty drum machine tracks. Emily J.K. sings about making out, politics, fun times, hard times, and the fantasy world they wish they lived in. Pony Pants is fun centric and sex pos -- committed to DIY ethics, subcultural unity, feminism, queer rights, the power of love and friendship... We come from an amazing scene in West Philadelphia: a long tradition of house shows, radical politics, young and old people stirring up art, music, trouble - burning little slivers of culture..."

playing with

Across Tundras - Psychedelic Post-Metal from Denver, CO

and then on Friday it's the one and only Deluxe Leisure King

and then to top it all off, Saturday night brings

hometown supraheroes, Thruoutingenue master the game before your very eyes, with
new-school electro-pop peeps in Seduction Bomb and a very special apperance by
the wonderful and mesmeric The Cattle Baron. a finer assortment of local sonic contortionists you will not find anywhere else...
