Why do you like Mel?
A couple of days ago, I asked over at doctorwho, why Mel is so unpopular. Its something that I can sort of understand why people don't like her, but surely there are companions Adric and Martha who are a lot more annoying than Mel. Some silly reasons included:
~ Her fashion sense (It was the 80s! Come on!)
~ She is ginger.
~ Her scream.
As far as I have seen, every single Doctor Who companion has screamed at some point (except maybe Harry, I can't remember him screaming. I might need to refresh my memory though), Mel just happens to have the best (and loudest!) scream. Ginger? Well if that was the case, Donna and Turlough should be just as unpopular as Mel.
As I have heard a lot of reasons why she is so unpopular, I want to know why people do actually like Mel.
I've only seen one of her episodes, Paradise Towers, but I've listened to all of her audio adventures with the Seventh Doctor and most of the ones with the Sixth and so far I really do like her. One thing I love about her is that she doesn't constantly ask the Doctor to take her home (one thing that bothered me about Tegan although I started liking her as soon as she stopped asking). Mel is kind and likes to see the best in people. She is positive and doesn't give up. And I do rather like that outfit from Paradise Towers, the 80s were a very 'special' time!
