I want to thank everyone for a really fun round of this lims! I think some of you made some amazing icons and I wish you could have gotten further so I could see more! My apologies for these taking so long - making banners is not my forte ;) Thank you so much and I'll think about doing another round!

wow must I have been out of it last week, but miss_half_way was nice enough to point out that she should have been eliminated in the last round and I totally zoned out. So, this is our final challenge - makes the voting a lot easier :)

Needs Improvement:

Gryffindor - the colouring on most is rather dull, and the applied text seems rather random - I like the Emma icon, though.
Gryffindor - While all of them are pretty the text on the first is hardly readable and I'm missing the creative variation the other sets have.

Hufflepuff- i think the texture used over powers the icons, perhaps if more contrast was used it would look better.

Ravenclaw : In the icons the textures are too overpowering and harsh. Opacity should have been lowered, particularly in the second icon.
ravenclaw: the textures used in #2 & 4 don't work well with the images. the edges of the actors look oversharp, possibly from techniques used rather than actual sharpening.
Ravenclaw: the textures don't fit that good with the images.
Ravenclaw- The icons are nice but the textures used are a bit overwhelming

Faboo:

gryffindor: lovely, well-balance colouring on all icons.

Slytherin : Nice and clean, good image quality and unique coloring.
Slytherin-The colouring is lovely, as is the use of text

Hufflepuff - lovely warm colouring, and interesting crops

• Don't try to give personal reasons such as: ~~I don't like the style, icon looks boring, awkward, I dislike the colour pink etc.~~ if you do so, I will ask you to rewrite your comment.
• I would really like to see constructive comments, such as, I think that icon would look better less dark, or that brush isn't placed well. Real reasons please! I want this lims to not be as mean-spirited as most lims are.

The voting was all over the place this week, but this is as close to clear-cut as I can get them, while still asking for extra votes...with so many good icon-makers now...

Needs Improvement:

Red:

Red: Although icons 02, and 03 are nice I chose this set because 01 looks like there hadn't been done a lot with the coloring or anything else.
Red - I can respect the attempt at originality of icon 3 but the execution just isn't completely there. As for icon 1 the negative space is very overwhelming and ends up drowning out the icon.

Yellow:

yellow: Hermione in the first icon is very elongated, it's important to make sure the proportion is kept at the correct ratio. In the third icon, the cut-out of Hermione is a little too obvious, perhaps it could have used a blur tool on the side of her hair.

Green:

green: the two first icons have a very similar coloring and texture use and it doesn't look amazing. 01 has too much blue in it, and the use of textures doesn't work well (they don't drive attention to the subject). 02 is oversharpened and would look prettier without the text texture. 02 has a very lovely coloring. 03 is very very pretty and i think it's cute to show hoe harry and ron grow up.
Green: The blue textures are a bit too bright and draw my focus away from the images
Green. Overall the colour is amazing but the icons are very sharp + the textures overpowering. The light blob on 3 would look better blend in more + the text textures on 1 + 2 while looking ok, would probably look better lighter or completely not there on 1.

Purple:

Purple- The large border around 01 takes away from the simplicity and emotion of the image. The text, specifically the alive part, on 02 is kinda hard to read.

the picture frame on the first icon is pretty, but it doesn't work with the chosen crop/cap.

Faboo:

Red:

Red:Really nice icons, all three have stunning use of textures and cropping

Yellow:

Yellow - while the cut out job on 1 is a bit poor (on her face) the chosen blend on 3 is amazing. Overall the colour + feel of the icons is warm + beautiful.

Blue:

blue (hm, can i just say one thing? the icon maker could try variate the font of choice, it'd add so much to the set!)
blue: I don't know if I have to have a reason for this, but I'll give it anyway. ;-) I love the use of text, especially in the second and third icons. The subtle use of a texture at the bottom of the second icon is nice too.
Blue - Really nice use of text and some unique and pleasant cropping. The text in icon two along with the cut is especially enjoyable and incredibly fitting.

Green:

Green Overall I love the coloring on all the icons especially the blue in 01 and the brownish coloring in 03.
Green: I like the blueish coloring of 01, the bright colors and the cropping of 02, and the whole idea of 03, those caps that were used fit together very well :)

001 - The picture looks strange on the background and I think the maker has to work on her/his "cutting skills" a bit.
1: I like the idea, but it's grainy and harry/ginny look like they have a dark aura
001 - icon is very blurry and there is a dark line around ginny's face
001 - too blurry and the texture does not compliment this picture and this cropping
1 - Nice cropping, but the text really detracts from the icon
01-The image could be blended better with the texture

4 & 3

4: It's just kind of boring. Nice crop, but it definitely needs sharpening and more contrast
004 - uninteresting crop + the icon is very dark, added more white tones would've lightened it
up greatly.
004 - the cropping should be improved, it looks like if the figure is distorted

2 & 4

002 - I have to give a reason, right? Because I like the icon it´s just that the other icons are a bit better. I think the border and the lighting take away a lot from the icon.

008 - Text doesn't seem to fit, coloring is off
4: I love the idea behind it, but the texture used is too overwhelming
#004 - You can barely recognize the people and I can´t tell what the text says. It´s also a bit over-sharpened.
04-the images are a bit grainy, and the font doesn't really fit
8- the dots under the font detract from the icon
004 - cute idea but the grouping doesn't work and texture use is too "grungy" looking.

Icons 2 & 5:

005 - it's too blurry, some contrast and\or sharpening could improve this icon

Icons 3 & 4:

004 akward crop + the texture used seems out of place

Icons 5 & 7:

#007 - I can´t really tell why but I think it is the sharpness of the icon that makes Dumbledore look like an action figure. And the negative space does not work that well on the icon.

Icons 1 & 9:

09: I know this was probably hard to color, but Dumbledore is still waaaay too green.
009 - Too blue, I'm sure the original image had the bluish tint but maybe the icon would've worked better as b&w

Icons 9 & 6:

009 - the coloring is too distracting
009 - Texture overpowers the icon, can't really tell who the subject of the icon is
009 the texture is overpowering + doesn't compliment the image

Faboo:

Icons 2 & 5:

002 - simple and good
002 - wonderful composition, simple yet beautiful.

Icons 7 & 2:

002 - great crop!
002 - good cropping

Icons 3 & 4:

003 - Great crop, interesting texture

Icons 5 & 7:

007 - Great use of texture, not too overpowering
#005 - I really like the coloring and the lightning.

Icons 1 & 9:
