Sorry the video is SO long haha I'm a slow reader and I yap a lot especially when I really am loving a story.
This was intense and vivid and so beautiful!! I was moved so much by the poetry of the writing and the slow build of chaos and pain in the art. The way things felt grounded at first and then got more and more unstable and scary as the game progressed really captured that cornered panicked feeling when you know what it's like to be powerless and trapped.
Spoilers for anyone reading :
I feel like it really captured the dichotomy of choosing to leave for your own safety but the pain of being forced to leave. It will be better for you, but the pain and frustration and unfairness of that will always, always be there. It's not your fault you have to leave, just as it's not your fault you were hurt by people supposed to take care of you. But the pain of both will never stop haunting you.
And I talk about this a little at the very end but I was very struck by the different versions of herself she sees throughout the game. The way the story makes a point to say that all of your versions of yourself are valid and the visual way those different versions were captured. A little kid, not knowing why everything feels wrong. A forgotten corpse, not know as who they truly are by all who remember them. And the kind shadow on the fuzzy screen - a concept so foreign to her it's like she can't even really see it. She can't picture herself being that person, being confident and able to self soothe.
Glad I played it and looking forward to more of what you create in the future! Really, really beautiful. Very heavy haha. Gonna sit heavy on the brain the next few days, I'm sure.
