Working on such a historic and globally recognized circuit has been a privilege. It has been an opportunity to contribute to its evolution, support its ambitions, and help shape key milestones in its modern identity. From engineering challenges to safety-driven improvements, every project from 2018 to today has been a chance to learn, collaborate, and deliver meaningful progress for one of motorsport’s most iconic venues. We are grateful for the trust placed in us and proud of the role we played in Silverstone’s continuous development.

Since late 2018, Dromo Circuit Design has had the privilege of supporting Silverstone across multiple projects, from pavement engineering to safety‑related upgrades, layout refinements, and new developments that have accompanied the circuit’s continued growth. Each collaboration has been an opportunity to contribute to the evolution of one of the most iconic circuits in motorsport. Our work together reflects a shared dedication to safety, performance, and continuous improvement. Over the years, we’ve had the chance to work alongside a very talented group of people, from architects and engineers to project managers, surveyors and contractors, whose expertise has been instrumental in delivering these projects. It has been a real pleasure collaborating with the Silverstone team and all the professional partners involved. After another memorable Grand Prix at Silverstone, we reflect on the long‑standing relationship we’ve had with this iconic venue.

Following an exciting F1 weekend, we revisit one of the most significant projects in our journey with Silverstone to date. In late 2018, we were engaged to carry out a detailed assessment of the main track surface. By early 2019, Dromo Circuit Design was entrusted with the design, engineering and complete resurfacing of the main track, delivered together with Tarmac, Shell and WSP under tight timelines and demanding performance requirements. The intervention combined advanced pavement engineering, coordinated execution and a shared commitment to delivering a surface ready for the world’s premier motorsport events. It remains one of the most rewarding chapters in our collaboration with Silverstone, a project we are proud to have delivered, providing the surface on which the circuit continues to race today.

A few years ago, Dromo Circuit Design resurfaced the entire Circuit Nogaro and designed a new turn to enhance safety and flow. For those interested in the background, you can find the video documenting that project here.

Dromo supported urgent remedial works at Circuit Nogaro, one of our long‑standing clients. The coordinated effort between Circuit Nogaro, COLAS and Dromo Circuit Design ensured that the circuit’s calendar remains fully safeguarded. Following the GP Truck event, under exceptional heat conditions, a section of the track required urgent attention. Further technical investigations will follow to understand the root cause and ensure long‑term resilience. Today’s prompt intervention made it possible to restore the track quickly and safely, allowing activities to continue without disruption. A sincere thank you to our partners for their professionalism and swift action.

Two separate media outlets, in Germany and Spain, have now reported on the legal dispute surrounding the Madrid Formula 1 circuit project. For Dromo, this matter has never been about seeking a privilege or obstructing an event. It is about something much simpler: contracts, intellectual property rights, chain of title, and respect for the work actually created. The IFEMA MADRID circuit was developed through a complex technical, architectural and creative process. When such work is later used, transferred, modified or commercially exploited, the legal basis for doing so must be clear. A specialised German court has already issued interim relief in relation to certain Madrid circuit planning materials. The broader issues remain before the competent courts and will be addressed there. Dromo will continue to act responsibly, through formal legal and institutional channels. The question now being asked publicly is an important one for the whole motorsport industry: who actually owns the design of a Formula 1 circuit, and under what rights can it be used?
