Katherine: Malfoys are her role Models :)
Why the Malfoys Are Perfectly Good Role Models For All Children & Adults Alike
As most readers should know, first impressions are not always how they’d like them to be. The Malfoys, their family traditions and ideologies, have been greatly misconstrued as dark, specist, and racist when they merely are just like all of us, although to a far greater extent (possibly in our deep, fathoms deep, primitive subconscious). They have a strong family bond and love for each other (if you regard this core family and not extended relations, i.e. Walburga).
Consider this, the Malfoy lineage is quite impressive with powerful wizards and witches like Bellatrix Lestrange and Orion and Walburga black to name a few. To keep the line pure-blooded and powerful, maintaining the status quo as an elite wizarding family, takes a lot of effort and time. And for that, they should be commended.
Let us now focus on the patriarch, Lucius Malfoy. It is quite obvious from his early years that he is a born leader with an intelligent mind. He was a prefect in Slytherin House. Face it, the man is smooth. Before the second year started for Draco, Lucius is able to slip Tom Riddle’s Diary in Ginny Weasley’s potions cauldron at Flourish & Botts with no one the wiser but Voldemort and himself. With this first action, Lucius was able to discredit Arther Weasley and dismiss Dumbledore as Headmaster once the Chamber of Secrets was opened. This cleverly designed plan killed two birds in one stone and could not have been fulfilled without the amazing capabilities and courage of Lucius Malfoy.
Lucius can be seen as a powerful networker. He has close ties with those at the top of the hierarchy pyramid such as the Minister of Magic Cornelius Fudge and Lord Voldemort. Lucius himself is an accomplished leader of other Deatheaters as is his sister-in-law Bellatrix. Lucius, besides being a Deatheater, is also a caring father. Does he not support his son, Draco, in his academic efforts at Hogwarts? At the end of the seventh book, does he not rush to his son? Thus, Lucius is a great role model for everyone for his paternal instincts, networking abilities, courage, and ambitions.
Narcissa Malfoy is not actively involved in Voldemort’s band of followers but as a wife and mother, she bravely put up with her home used as Headquarters. She has very strong maternal instincts and her devotion to family, the safety of Draco, can be seen when she lies to Voldemort that Harry is dead in order to find where Draco is and if he is still alive during the raging battle at Hogwarts. To lie to Voldemort shows true guts (even though saving Harry would have been the ultimate) and a powerful love for her son – a different power before history was written.
Now for Draco Malfoy; he is definitely ambitious in a cautious, wary kind of way of what he must do, but he is ambitious. He proved his courage by Expelliarmus-ing Dumbledore on the tower. He was the master of the Elder Wand if for only a short time before being disarmed by Harry. Also, Draco is fighting at such a young age, like many others in our world, which is why this bravery to get out there is commendable.
In conclusion, the Malfoys have amazing depth to them and if you simply try (despite it being analogous to finding a needle in a haystack), you can find commendable characteristics that all children and adults can emulate. Each member has had their many worst moments, but also a few defining moments that have saved them all from rotting in Azkaban.
