Hello! Back in Houston area after a few years away. New to Houston w/ kids though. We have a zoo pass and a pass to the natural science museum. We've been to Brazos Bend and we've heard about George Ranch. Other family friendly stuff to do?

Also in the market for a good pediatrician/family practice Dr. We're living near Sugarland. Is there a good resource for this somewhere? I'm a little crunchy, so I need a dr. who is cool with extended breastfeeding and a few delayed vaccinations.

What happen in Galleria last weekend?

I know there was some kind of sports even in Galleria area last weekend (Feb 16-17). But what happen to Galleria Shopping Mall? The shopping mall was 80% crowded with a black community, questionable behavior (blocking the passage to others, shouting). When I was leaving the mall, the Fendi store was locked, a few policemen having 2 black guys handcuffed. And a huge black crowd at the store front discussing them. Supposedly they were trying to steal jewerly from Fendi in a group raid.

I was told by another source that black gangs came over to Galleria that day and flashmob/group-robbed a few stores. This means that 10-20 people fill up one store and start taking out clothes. And no one can stop them because there is not enough security or personnel to stop 20 people at once.

I saw an increased security and police presence in the Mall. I saw a few police officers hiding behind the store windows and watching the areas. But, it seem not to prevent black gangs from group robbing stores.

I saw many black young ladies practically half naked walking up and down the "promenade". When saying "half-naked" I mean (pardon me): partially open bootie, a camel toe, tight pants with crotch, see-through nipples. I would not be surprised to see it at Greenspoint, but Galleria, c'mon!

Overall the whole Mall situation felt like an anarchy - according to my info, a police and security could not prevent theft.

Please share what you know.

P.S. Both, Saturday and Sunday the area was totally crowded. I-59 is stalled, Richmond and Westheimer paralyzed. I was blocked at the parking lot for an hour.

See Space Shuttle Endeavour, carried atop NASA's 747 Shuttle Carrier Aircraft, in all her glory from Sept. 17 to 19 at Ellington Field (weather permitting). Endeavour will be available for public viewing Sept. 17 and 18 until 7 p.m. before she makes her way to a permanent display home in Los Angeles at the California Science Center.

The carrier aircraft with Endeavour will fly approximately 1,500 feet above various areas of Houston, Clear Lake, and Galveston following its sunrise departure Monday, Sept. 17, from Kennedy Space Center.

The Texas Gulf Coast region flyover, in cooperation with the Federal Aviation Administration, is scheduled to occur between approximately 9 and 10:30 a.m. CDT. The specific route and timing of Endeavour's flight over Houston on Sept. 17 depends upon weather and operational constraints. However, the aircraft is expected to fly near a variety of landmarks in the greater Houston area. Some of those include the three major airports: George Bush Intercontinental, William P. Hobby, and Ellington -- as well as the downtown skyline and the San Jacinto Monument. Prior to landing at Ellington, the Shuttle Carrier/Endeavour combination will navigate a flyover of the JSC area.

Landing at Ellington is scheduled for approximately 10:45 a.m., with final positioning near the NASA Hangar 990 pedestrian gate. Public viewing within about 100 feet of the vehicle will begin 30 minutes after it is parked and safed by ground personnel. Viewing will continue until 7 p.m. Airport gates will reopen to the public from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18. Endeavour's departure from Ellington is planned for approximately sunrise on Wednesday, Sept. 19.

There will also be more than a beautiful shuttle bird to look at -- exhibits at the Hangar 990 viewing area include the Driven to Explore mobile exhibit and inflatable shuttle, a joint Orion/International Space Station banner, Starport tent and more. Please note: Hangar 990 itself will NOT be open to employees or the public during the viewing days.

Also keep in mind that the stopover is contingent upon weather conditions. Inclement weather at Kennedy, along the flight path, or in the Houston area can delay, change, or cancel stopover plans. If conditions don't permit arrival until Sept. 19, there will be only one day of public viewing. Continued weather issues could shorten or cancel the Houston-area stop altogether. Updates and public availability plans for Endeavour's stop in Houston will be updated regularly at: http://www.nasa.gov/centers/johnson/home/endeavour_visit.html

NASA will also provide updates on Endeavour's cross-country flight via social media using the hashtags #SpotTheShuttle and #OV105 -- Endeavour's orbiter vehicle designation.

- Seabrook-Kemah bridge on TX-146 will be closed for approximately 30 minutes starting around noon.
- Nasa Parkway right-most lanes (both directions) between Upper Bay Rd and Space Center Blvd. closed from 11 AM until ~10 PM. Eastbound will remain closed afterward; westbound will reopen.

Saturday, June 2:
- Nasa Parkway eastbound right lane remains closed from Lagoon Dr. to Space Center Blvd.
- Random blockages due to moving equipment.

Space Center Houston Rolls Out 'Carpet' for Shuttle Replica

Don't miss the "Shuttlebration Weekend" June 1 and June 3, beginning with the arrival of Space Center Houston's newest exhibit, a full-size Space Shuttle replica, Friday, June 1. The replica is arriving by barge to the Johnson Space Center dock located at 3000 NASA Parkway on Clear Lake, near the Houston Hilton NASA Clear Lake hotel.

Space Center Houston has a slate of fun planned beginning with the replica's arrival projected between 3 and 5 p.m. There will be a come-one-and-all street party with NASA space exploration exhibits and activities, food and entertainment between the dock and the hotel. Gates will open at 2 p.m. but plan to stay for the evening to watch the fireworks at 9 p.m.

(Saturday, June 2, the Orbiter replica will be loaded onto a mobile transfer vehicle for transfer to Space Center Houston. While public interest will be high, there are no formal events planned on this day.)

On Sunday, June 3, the Shuttle replica will make an estimated three-hour trek down NASA Parkway from the dock to its permanent home at Space Center Houston where it will be welcomed by JSC's very own prototype planetary rovers, local scout troops and marching bands. The Space Center is rolling out the carpet with a free family-friendly celebration in its parking lot between 10 a.m. and noon, offering viewing of the replica, more NASA space exploration exhibits, fun activities for the whole family and much more.

Thanksgiving

So, we're getting vaguely near to Thanksgiving. My parents own a travel trailer, with which they take many trips and camp and that sort of thing. This year, they are driving up to a park just south of me in Dallas so we can have a family Thanksgiving. To do this, they would like to purchase a premade Thanksgiving dinner from somewhere down in Houston. (They're actually in Sugar Land, but you get the idea.) We've tried Kroger's and Randall's and the usual grocery store versions, but they're rather bland and not that interesting. Whole Foods is an option, but I was wondering if anyone had a favorite place to go to order premade Thanksgiving dinners and the like in the Houston/Sugar Land area. I was looking at Heberts, but their premade is huge, and we're only 3 people. Leftovers are great, but there's only so much fridge space in a trailer. What's your favorite? Heard any good things? Heard any bad things?

I'm looking for a carpet cleaning company that does the West side of Houston/Katy area.

I need one that specializes in pet stuffs. Not one that's just going to run through the house spraying cheap solution and barely sucking the dirt outta the floor for $70.

Some craigslist research and online reviews show that there's some companies that just deal with the booking and send some random group out. When all their websites look and act the same, something's suspicious. I thought I found one company online, but they never responded to their form inquiry from their website. I don't have time to be calling ppl and trying to understand what they're trying to sell me.

I was targeting about $200 for someone to do 3 bedrooms and the living area of a 1700sqft home.
