I dropped some people from my LJ flist who either crosspost from DW or who haven't updated in over a year or who I don't really talk with anymore. I'm very very close to deleting my LJ; I only crosspost about half my entries these days, the majority of my community is on Dreamwidth, and I hate LJ's user relations attitude with a violent passion. It's going to happen eventually, it's just a matter of when. I am happy to grant access on DW to LJ OpenIDs, and I may request OpenID access here from some of you eventually.

I am rereading Lloyd Alexander's Westmark (followed by The Kestrel and The Beggar Queen). They are honestly the only fantasy* novels I can think of which are about common people bringing down the monarchy. (They're short YA novels, and I recommend them if you haven't read them.)

Books of 2009!

This year I actually kept pretty good track of the books I read, although there were also a bunch of nerdy history books I didn't read straight through which didn't make it on here. I am several months behind on reviews, which I'll have to catch up on, and a lot of the books were comfort-rereads (or self-torment rereads, in the case of Anne McCaffrey). Unfortunately, LivingSocial doesn't date when you add a book, so I may have accidentally added a few from the end of 2008 or left off a few from the beginning of 2009. Otherwise, it's pretty accurate.

Recipe: Pineapple Chicken Curry

I actually came up with a new recipe for the first time in a long time this week. It's based on a pineapple ginger curry I had at a local Thai restaurant; I didn't put ginger in mine this time, but probably would in the future. I'm estimating the measurements because I rarely measure when I cook. In choosing flavors, I went with the hot-sour-salty-sweet combination typical of Thai food: in this case, curry paste; lime and rice vinegar; fish sauce and salt; and pineapple and coconut.

Cutting down the flist

My schedule is looking very tight for the coming year, and I'm also trying to pare my flist down to people I know pretty well. I removed people I don't know well, and it's nothing personal. I'm also in SCA burnout right now and don't really want to read about SCA stuff so much. (And I left a lot of communities, as well.)
