So I'm totalling blaming Scott Riggs for Paul not making it into the 500.

Kristin and I were on the phone, talking about the coverage on Speed (it was during the truck quals). Well, sometime last month, I was talking to her about Larry Foyt and how cute he was and how I was hoping his truck ride would be successful but she didn't get into NASCAR until after Larry was out of the sport. So she was not aware of how hot he is. Anyway, we hung up with each other and a few minutes later, they interviewed Larry on Speed. Five seconds after his interview, Kristin called me and goes, "He is HOT!" It was funny. So now I'm trying to find pictures of him to send to her. Not a bad task, I'll admit.

DAYTONA WEEKEND!! WOOOOOOHOOOOOOO!

I'm not officially back from hiatus yet but I had to tell y'all something!

Next Friday, Kristin and I are probably driving over to Dega to see Trackside!

They announced on one of the Speed Channel shows that DW won't be there. Guess who's filling in for him...

ELLIOTT SADLER!!!

And it gets better. The guests:

MARTIN TRUEX, JR!!!!!
PAUL MENARD!!!!!

Clint Bowyer. Eh.

So the plan is to leave Statesboro in the early afternoon. Meet Kristin in Buckhead. Hop on I-20 and fly over to Dega. It'll take us about 2-2 1/2 hours to get over there. Our biggest concern is that they'll tape it at 6:30pm, which we probably couldn't make. Speed's site says that Trackside will be airing at 8pm. It's done live, right? *fingers crossed*

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!

Alright, I really hate to do this but between my jobs, school, and some personal issues, I don't have the time or energy to keep up with LiveJournal or MySpace. So I'm going on hiatus for at least 3 weeks, maybe longer. I haven't been posting much lately so y'all won't miss me.

I'll still be around to leave comments. If you need me, e-mail, call, IM, whichever. E-mail is probably the best way to reach me.

Was going to go up to Charlotte this weekend but I need to stay at my apartment and work some things out. Hopefully, I'll get to go up for a weekend sometime in May. I have 3 finals on May 2 and a possible 4th one on May 4. As soon as classes end, I'll start working at the shop 25-30 hrs/wk. I'll also sit down and fix up Justin's website. On a closing note, what is up with that 'I wanna throw you across the nearest horizontal surface and fuck your brains out' look I got the other day?! <lj:music>"Fresh Prince of Bel-Air"</lj:music>

The day started on a bad note when I had this dream:

Had a dream last night that 4 drivers were in a plane crash. 3 of them died. Denny was involved and they were saying there was the possibility that he had brain damage. So the parts I remember were being in the infield at some track right after we all heard about the crash. Then there were some scenes that I don't remember. The only other scene I remember was being at a restaurant and there was a huge group of us there. Junior, Jamie Mac, me, mom, Aly, her roomies, and some other NASCAR people. I go over to Jr and Jamie, put my arms around them and was saying "Denny's gotta be okay. He raced today so he obviously doesn't have brain damage. He's going to be fine." Apparently Denny raced after the crash but yet, we still hadn't heard whether or not he had brain damage. Weird, I know. So then I go sit beside Aly (there was someone, maybe Mom, sitting between me and Junior, who was sitting beside Jamie) and she's asking me all these questions about the crash. And I'm talking about how they just lost Adam and Ricky and now this. Then, Jr and Jamie start to walk over and I'm telling her to stop asking questions so they won't hear. Well, then she starts asking her roommate across the table.

And that's all I remember.

So obviously, kinda freaked about it. Don't remember who the other 3 drivers in the crash were, thank goodness.

Pretty much just bummed around today, caught up on some reading.

Highlight of the night was a random and hella funny phone conversation with Mel and Terra (can't wait to see pics!).

Was thinking of either going to the Busch race in Nashville in June or going to to Lotte in June but I think that might possibly not happen. Going to London at the end of June so I'll need to be keeping the purse strings tight.

And now, I leave you with the Wikipedia meme.

Go to Wikipedia and look up your birthday (excluding the year). List three neat facts, two births and one death in your journal, including the year.

Events
1776 - The Continental Congress adopts a resolution severing ties with Great Britain, though a formal Declaration of Independence is not adopted until July 4.
1937 - Amelia Earhart and navigator Fred Noonan disappear over the Pacific Ocean while attempting to make the first round-the-world flight at the equator.
1947 - An object speculated to be a UFO crashes near Roswell, New Mexico, though the United States Air Force claims it is a weather balloon.

Births
1937 - Richard Petty, American race car driver
1932 - Dave Thomas, American fast food entrepreneur

Death
1961 - Ernest Hemingway, American writer, Nobel Prize laureate (suicide)

And just 'cause it's a cool, random fact: July 2nd is the middle day in a non-leap year.

I know I haven't been around much lately. Last week was insanely busy and stressful.

My thoughts on the Bristol trip: IT WAS AWESOME! Seriously, if you ever get the change to go to Bristol, don't pass it up! We had so much fun! Yes, it snowed Sunday morning. We skipped the usual 'get to the track early to see which drivers are signing' routine and ate a yummy breakfast at Cracker Barrel instead. We tried to deny the snow's existence but it kept getting worse. So we finally started saying, "They're going to cancel the race." and that seemed to work because the snow started to lighten up. Silly snow! We tricked it! I actually stayed warm during the race because I had the foresight to take a sleeping bag with me instead of a regular ol' blanket. My hands got pretty cold but I never even shivered! And now I'm in the mood to go camping! Maybe sometime this summer. Aly, Dad, and I could go hike the GA part of the Appalachian trail. Hmm...that's a thought.

Um, anyways. Finally bought an MP3 player! Yay! And won a Vera Bradley tote bag on eBay last night. Are those as big on y'all's campuses as they are here? Mine's Picadilly Plum and I <3 it!

I've been having issues with sinus stuff the last few days and thought this morning that I was getting past it. That thought lasted until 2:00. Now I feel a lot worse (did somebody hit me in the face with a baseball bat?!). I took some Alovert, that's helping. I really want to take some Benadryl and sleep for a few hours but I have an exam tomorrow that I have to finish studying for, ugh!

Becki- if you're reading this, walking's out tonight.

Alright, I'm out.
Is everything just working against me right now? Seriously, the only things that have made me smile today are my new icon, courtesy of sayiwont (THANK YOU AGAIN!) and some race pics Justin sent me this morning.

I actually had a relaxing Spring Break. Didn't do anything except sleep in and chill at home. Friday, Kristin, Dad, and I went to the truck race. Was actually kinda nervous because it was Dad's first race and the ticket was my birthday present to him. I would have been really bummed if Dad hadn't enjoyed himself. But he did so yay! I think Kristin and I amused him greatly (like, when I was sarcastically cheering Junior for his crappy qualifying run). And he was amazed by all the RVs around the racetrack (he should see Dega!).

So quals and the truck race. Quals were quals, nothing surprising there. The truck race- oh my Lord, I have *never* been so nervous during a race. Anytime anything happened near Boston, I grabbed Kristin and eeked. LOL. Boston was running around 30th and Mark Martin (race leader) was catching the pack that Boston was running in. Boston was at the tail end of the pack. So I kept saying, "We need a caution! We need a caution!" Then Mark passed him and I was like, "Oh shit, we really need a caution!" Right before Mark lapped the next truck, the 4 (or 04) broke loose and hit the wall. I screamed, "CAUTION!" and started cheering 'cause Boston got his lap back! (And I know y'all are all laughing at me right now but that's okay.) So then I had to explain to Dad that I wasn't happy that the 4/04 had wreck, I was happy 'cause my driver was back on the lead lap.

Later on in the race, one of the trucks (I don't remember who) broke loose, went down into the grass, slid back up the track and came thisclose to hitting Boston. No joke! That was about the time I told Kristin that I couldn't handle anymore truck races this season. LOL. But yay for Boston finally finishing a race! And another green/white/checkered-wreck on the last lap- truck race at Atlanta. <3 it.

And congrats to Jon Wood for leading the race. So what if it was just down the backstretch? He still led!

Saturday we finally got to the track after stops at QuikTrip, Chick-fil-A, Starbucks, and Wal-Mart. LOL. One of the first things Kristin and I did was get Todd Kluever's autograph. What a sweetheart! (And a cutie! Those lips!) I had him sign my hat and then a ticket stub for Aly. Told him that he was Aly's fave driver and the only one she cheered for. I should have told him that she really liked him after she found out he hated spiders. LOL.

After Todd, we were walking around the merch trailers and I saw Burney's, with a huge pic of Burney on the side. So I, of course, had Kristin take a pic of me posing with him. As I was walking up to the trailer, the two guys selling merch started laughing. I yelled, "That's okay. Y'all can laugh at me. I don't care!" They said, "You aren't the first person to do that this weekend." Then they started joking around about taking pictures of them and one guy offered to take our pic with the other guy for only $10. They tried to get me to buy a Burney hat but I just got one of the pictures of him. Told me he'd been out there signing on Friday afternoon (DAMN YOU ATL TRAFFIC!).

Then we walked around all the displays and stuff. Won Sharpies. I got a purple Sharpie mini! Headed to the Lowes tent to take pics of Jimmie J during his autograph session. That man is so hot! rawr. Plus, he was wearing a Braves hat so he gets extra brownie points.

After JJ, we headed into the track to catch Busch quals. Then the Busch race. Got lots of good pics during driver intros. What was really cool (besides the fact that Richard Petty, Ned Jarrett, etc were the grand marshals) is that they had the drivers introduce themselves and their crew chiefs. Poor Mark McFarland came out first and the mic was off. Oops. Kenny introduced his CC as the sexiest man in the garage. LOL. Elliott had the best one- he did it in the style of a wrestling announcer ("And in this corner..."), we all cracked up.

I loved our seats but there was a guy sitting beside me who was squicking me out. Every once in awhile, he'd ask me a question and I'd give him a short answer and immediately turn to Kristin. We're usually lucky about sitting next to cool people but not this time.

Good Busch race. 3 of the 4 guys I was pulling for finished in the top-13. Sucks that Jon had a loose car ("Gawdalmighty, this thing is loose.") and Denny had to replace his radiator. Ryan's car stopped a litte ways down from us so I got to see him climb out and walk to the ambulance.

I think that's about it for race weekend. Didn't have tickets for Sunday's race so luckily, I didn't lose any $$ there. Heading up to Bristol next Saturday and can't wait!

After the race, I headed out to Dad & Ava's for a poker game. It was a social thing, and we were just playing $0.25/0.50. I bought in for $10 and cashed out with $22.25 so I had a good night.

So here's where all the shit starts. Came back to my apartment Sunday night to find new sheets, a new comforter, and a letter on my bed. A roommate accidently set my comforter and my sheets on fire. Here's the story: They had a surprise b'day party here Friday night. They hid the cake in my room. The cake had re-lighting candles on it. The roommate used one of the candles to light the rest, blew it out, then threw it on the cake box top and left the room. The candle relit (there's a shocker) and caught my bed on fire. Ruined my $100 comforter and sheets that I've had for years. She replaced it with a Wal-Mart bed-in-a-bag set. I have a feeling my expensive feather mattress is ruined but I haven't gotten up the nerve to look at it yet. There's a small part of me that is just relieved that nothing else was ruined. There's a big part of me that is just amazed and extremely piseed off at the stupidity of it.

Then, I had a pair of jeans rip in between classes. I basically said, "Fuck this." and decided to skip my two other morning/afternoon classes. There's a lot of other stuff on my mind right now and it's all just slowly chipping away at my sanity.

Oh, and a scene I read in a fic the other night brought up some long-buried memories so now I'm going through a "I want a boyfriend." period too. Yippy skippy.

I need a drink.

Bristol in 4 days. I can make it.
