O pobo shawnee é un pobo indíxena. A súa lingua, o shawnee, é unha lingua da familia algonquina.

A súa terra natal precolombiana probablemente estaba centrada no sur de Ohio. No século XVII, dispersáronse por Ohio, Illinois, Maryland, Delaware e Pensilvania. A comezos do século XVIII, concentráronse principalmente no leste de Pensilvania, mais dispersáronse de novo máis tarde ese mesmo século por Pensilvania, Virxinia Occidental, Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana e Illinois, cun pequeno grupo que se uniu ao pobo muskogee en Alabama. No século XIX, o goberno federal dos Estados Unidos expulsounos pola forza en virtude da Lei de traslado forzoso dos indios de 1830 a zonas ao oeste do río Mississippi; estas terras acabarían converténdose nos estados de Missouri, Kansas e Texas. Finalmente, foron trasladados ao Territorio indio, que se converteu no estado de Oklahoma a comezos do século XX.

Hoxe en día, o pobo shawnee está inscrito en tres tribos recoñecidas federalmente, todas con sede en Oklahoma.
