Description
English: Headquarters of Family Matters of Greater Washington located at 1509 16th Street, N.W., in the Dupont Circle neighborhood of Washington, D.C. Built in 1909 to the designs of architectural firm Averill, Hall & Adams, the Italianate-style former apartment building and hotel is designated as a contributing property to the Sixteenth Street Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. Former occupants include Albert S. Burleson, Timothy T. Ansberry, Champ Clark, Christian Inn, Christian Service Corporation, Albert B. Cummins, John W. Davis, Charles B. Howry, Frances P. Keyes, William F. McDowell, National Association for the Education of Young Children, and John K. Shields.
