Torchwood: Children of Earth: Day Two

Before I get into Day Two, here's something I forgot to squee over from Day One: Jack and Ianto, having an intimate dinner, in a fancy French restaurant in town. That is just...too, too sweet.

OK, onto last night's episode... Definitely a different feel from Monday night, which makes sense, given that it's part 2 of 5. Monday was all about, hey, remember these characters? This is who they are, and how they are now, and how they interact with each other, and a bit of hey, here comes plot! Last night was definitely all about advancing the plot. Less to squee over, but still, PLENTY to love. Plus...it can't ALL be Jack/Ianto moments.

The bits I loved tonight:
- The opening credits...do they not normally overlay them like that?
- Gwen kicking some ass and escaping.
- The couple spat Gwen and Rhys have while packing to flee...over keys, a book.
- Andy's confusion over what's going on...being the only one talking the whole trip.
- Gwen: "Remember the last time we had ice cream together?" Ianto: "No." Gwen: "Yeah, you do, after the Grand Slam?" Ianto: "I don't like ice cream. It gives me a headache."
- Rhys carrying Gwen's bag so she has her trigger finger free.
- Johnny: "You won't find him in my bed. I'm a married man!" As the police find him naked in bed.
- "We want a pony. We want a pony."
- Ianto's family and neighbors totally conspiring to help his sister get out to him...rocking the car. Love it!
- Gwen and Rhys being fucking adorable while laying on a pile of potatoes. God, they've been brilliant together this series...which makes me TERRIFIED for Rhys's fate.
- Gwen: "Well, you carried my bag."
- Rhiannon: "Dad didn't break your leg on purpose, you know." Ianto: "He pushed me too hard. He always did." Rhiannon: "Well, you should have held on tighter." Wow. Want to know more about Ianto's back story, please.
- Hi there, only sort of shaded out Jack's penis. I know, yeah, he's cuffed there. BUT STILL.
- Jack getting buried in concrete. Wow. Felt really fucking bad for him in this episode. Such torture. AND IANTO THERE HEARING IT, OMG. His face. His face.
- OMG, Lois will be the best new old-Ianto, with all her prep given to Gwen and Rhys.
- Yay, Ianto being damned smart getting that forklift. Also, I was sitting there going, "Where the fuck does he think he's going to take him and escape?" And then, "oh, Ianto's brilliant."
- Yes please, naked Jack. LOTS of naked Jack.
- Gwen averting her eyes -- thank you so much for NOT playing the Jack/Gwen thing up anymore. They finally characterized her correctly with regard to Jack. He's her best friend -- I think she mentions that earlier in the episode.
- Jack throws the coat over his shoulder instead of covering himself! LOVED that. So fitting.
- Also, what the hell? Ianto and Jack don't even get near each other. That felt oddly out of place with the rest of the series so far.

OK, onto Day Three, which I am DYING to recap.
