Want to discover an alternative approach to Self Defense? Try the fighting that is not fighting. Learn to sense and blend with another's energy in order to control it. Discover how to spontaneously react to an attack so quickly your mind will not know that your body has done it. These are all natural abilities our bodies once had and we knew that instinctively, before civilization caused the rewiring of our neural networks. Now self defense seems like something we no longer have the ability to do, however nothing could be further from the truth as it's in our DNA. There is a playful exercise we practice known as push hands where we learn to relax and blend with another's energy in order to control it. It is not aggressive or confrontative, in fact it is like a game of chess except insead of moving pieces on a board we use the one piece we all have, our bodies. We learn to move so as to yield and avoid energy, then pivot to send the energy of a strike back to its' perpetrator. Easy peasy and fun!
