Opinons and Views
The Goverenment: It is a necessary evil, I suppose. I believe the state should help its' citizens but keep out of their bedrooms and hospitals. One cannot live in DC and not be political, and I am growing disgusted with our nation. I am truly a city girl and truly liberal--DC was about 85% blue in the 2004 election. I agree with the French view on secularism in public schools and believe that religion should be kept in the home and the church (or synagoge, or mosque or grotto or ferny woods with a view of the full moon) and NO WHERE ELSE. The government has no place issuing morality--did you know that even though sodomy was officially "legalized" in 2003, there are still states that have it forbidden in their law just for the statement it makes? Disgusting. All in all: the government should help its' citizens when they need help, but leave them the fuck alone otherwise.

Abortion: I am pro-choice and believe in all that entails. I believe in comprehensive sex ed, I want Emergency Contraception to be OTC for everyone over the age 16, I believe condoms should be accessible to minors, and anyone should be able to get a safe and easy abortion if they need it. I believe in informing rape/sexual assault victims of all their options, I believe minors should be able to receive sexual health treatment without the interference of their parents (about that new law forbidding adults from transferring a minor girl over state lines for an abortion w/o parental consent--has anyone heard of incest? What if she's pregnant as a result of rape or incest at the hands of a family member? this law is ignorant and wrong. The rights of the woman--the girl--in this situation supercedes the rights of a cluster of cells and/or a rapist. period.), and I believe that abortion is NOT birth control and is a last resort and someone else's opinion to have one or not is NONE OF MY BUSINESS.

Gay Rights/Marriage: Absolutely for gay marriage. I also think gays/lesbians/bisexuals/transsexuals/etc. should have adoption rights over minor children.

Suicide: I am clinically depressed and have been down there, but I personally think it's a selfish act, although I do understand that in the depths of despair it is hard to think of other people. I am on Prozac right now, am in therapy, and am sober, and it has helped my depression immensely. People need to seek help, and the stigma needs to be removed from mental illness.
Drinking, drugs, smoking: Like I said, I'm sober. That's the best decision for ME. I'm a college student--I'm around drinking all the time. I don't like (most) people doing drugs/drinking around me because it my trigger my desire to do them, but it is a free country. I think marijuana should be decriminalized but I don't think children (edit: teens under the age of like, 16 should not be doing drugs) should be smoking. I think people need to act responsibly. Smoking cigarettes is stupid but not my business, unless it is (I have asthma and cigarette smoke can give me attacks).

Religion: I am personally anti-religion. I am an athiest and find most religion to be ignorant and intolerant. I took a class in high school about the New Testament and what I learned cemented my disgust and lack of respect toward Christianity. The New Testament is an arbitrary collection of gospels that support the dominant early Christian group at the time. I think, on a global scale, more harm than good has been predicated by religion. I understand if it helps the individual, but I'm talking about the world. 9/11, the Crusades, IRA, the Holocaust--religion, to me, is too much trouble. I believe in morality outside of the context of a Santa-Claus deity who will punish me if I'm bad. (/end rant)

Education: "You think education is expensive? Try ignorance." It's true. I am in college and may go to grad school, and I am very pro-education. I think public schools in this country (at least in DC) need to be better, but that No Child Left Behind does not work. In Europe, state colleges are free, and I think that's amazing. There are too many smart people in America who cannot afford college, and will therefore be unable to get the best jobs they can get. Unfair. Education needs to be easier to obtain.

Hobbies: Ranting in lj, soccer (playing, watching on tv), eating good food, cooking good food, sleeping, fucking, internet-ing, driving (I just got my lisence and I'm 20, haha), TV (family guy, daily show, late-night anime, LAW AND ORDER), hanging out with my friends and family.
Describe your style: Lazy--I wear sweats and pj pants and hoodies most of the time, although when I give a shit it's usually pretty casual: usually jeans and a tee-shirt and my chucks. Opinons and Views
The Goverenment:It is hard to take an unbalancerd view on politics, i am British and our country is currently about to run our general elections.I am sure you are well aware that our country is being run by the, shall we say competent, Tony Blair. Many people over here view him in the same way people in U.S.A view George Bush. Although i don't agree with the decision to invade Iraq, i show admiration for George Bush concerning his other policies and morals. I am however contemptuous of his attitudes concerning global issues and emissions laws.

Abortion:Hmmm delicate topic...I think that if people are responsible enough to deem themselves at an appropriate age to have sex, then they are therefore responsible enough to deal with the consequences of their actions - including pregnancy. I think that people who find themselves in the unfortunate situation of an unwanted pregnancy, they should under no circumstances use abortion as a form of 'last minute' birth control.Although i disagree with abortion, i do not think it is the responsibility of anti abortion campaigners to convince women to keep their children - at the end of the day it would be inappropriate for the government to have the power to control whether or not a woman should be made to live with a choice she was unhappy making.

Gay Rights/Marriage:Absolutely acceptable, life is too short to conflict with things you don't believe in. I imagine people against homosexuality probably just don't understand that -but that doesn't give them the right to insist that it's wrong especially since "Ignorance is the root of all fear". We had a gay priest over here a couple of months ago and although the support he received was overwhelming, the prejudice he faced was disgusting.

Suicide:It's very uncool to see people use suicide as a means of improving their self image.I've seen the effect that genuine suicidal tendencies have on people, and i cannot understand why anyone would ever wish that upon themselves when they know fine well the consequences of such behaviour.

Drinking, drugs, smoking: understand that many people claim that their tendencies to drink/use drugs help them to express themselves in a way that other methods cannot but i think that a lot of younger people (including myself) while on a quest to find security in life, get misguided and feel the need to "show -off" by unecessarily making the choice to use drugs (of any kind) in a brief moment of insanity. I think that an ocassional drink is totally acceptable but i think that the age at which alcohol can be sold to people (in some European countries it is 14) should be re-considered by the government.

Religion: I personally find religion very ambiguous. I cannot understand how we are supposed to place all of our trust on a feeling that is encouraged merely by our faith.I suppose that it what most people find comforting about religion - that they can connect the faith they feel in their lives with a worthwhile experience. I still ffind it difficult to willingly put so much trust in something that isn't a sure thing.

Education: This probably isn't the best time to ask me about education - i'm sitting my standard grade exams right now (pretty important government exams, potentially deciding the path of your career and life in general) and to be honest i'm slowly contemplating a sabotage on the education system - though i'm sure i'll feel differently once they are all over.

The Goverenment:i always hated how goverment was..and as studying politics i have come to relaise what a corrupt sytem we actually have..but then again i relaised that this country would be far worse if we did not have a goverment to control it in some way or another..yes sometimes it doesnt soemtimes it goes completly off the rail and does the opposite to its job of representing what the public and the country wants but sometimes it does.
Abortion:in some extreme cases yes where goign through with the birth would cause damage to the baby or mother then think abortion is ok but when abortion is used as an excuse for people to sleep around and have care free sex then i am against it.i have heard about cases where a womand had an abortion because of the har colour her baby was predicted so she terminated its life.this made me feel so angry and sick inside.
Gay Rights/Marriage:why should they be any different to straight rgihts and straight marriages. in the end everyone is human no matter who they are attracted to so they should all be treat the same like humans.
Suicide:i have lost close friends due to suicide.its a sad thing that people feel that they need to resort to ending things.i have been there i know what its like and the way i got through it was realising my friends were there for me. i feel so much empthay for those who feel they dont even have anyone to pull them through even though they most probably do.
Drinking, drugs, smoking:its everyones opption to do these things.i use to drink alot then i using alcohol as a means to get away from things and i let it control me..i now dont drink i havnt claimed to be straight edge nor so i have the desire to at the moment.i ahve friends who are and friends who arnt.i respect them all equally. i also have done drugs and smoked and found them not t be for me ..as smoking i just found distgusting but yet again other people arnt me and like to smoke.
Religion:i wish i had a faith to belive in but i dont anymmore.i think its amazing that people have the fath and beleif in something like a god.good for them..it keeps them strong inside themsleves and thats what matters.i brought up as a christian family and even though i have lost my faith in religion im positive i would not be the person i am today without having that upbringing..its everyone choice..i dont think religion should be forced onto people.
Education:im in higer education..its made me who i am and i know i need it to get where i want to be.there are some great people who have not got that much of an 'education' but have got great places its not for everyone.sometimes i hate it but then i think of where it will get meits there for a reason.

The Goverenment: it's there. i don't really think it does anything for anyone, we'll all end up destroying ourselves and then rebuilding our empire, no matter how much "power" the government has over us. we're people, and people make history repeat itself.
Abortion: well, basically if you keep the kid, you're killing yourself, and if you kill it.. well them you're technically a murderer. withtoday's society, there's no right or wrong for this subject.
Gay Rights/Marriage: it's not even an issue. gay people have the right to love. love is love, and it isnt any better when shared between and man and a woman.
Suicide: cowardice. the easy way out. there's nothing good about it, because ultimately, it hurts everyone except for the person who died. but then they're just dead. so i'd deiscourage it for anyone who cares aboutt he people around them...
Drinking, drugs, smoking: they're just things. if they increase the value of your life then so be it. i dont do any of them, but hey, live life the way you want to live it.
Religion: religion is self-help. i see alot of the devout religious people these days weak, but it also makes alot of people stronger. but then again, it's one of those power things. alot of the time it creates war and death.
Education: i like the idea of education. people have too much time on their hands, and if we dont fill our minds with worthless shit that in the end amounts to nothing but maybe a nicely written will, we could do something silly like just enjoy our days together or fall in love. oh well... i still like education, it keeps me out of trouble. boredom = trouble.
