I think I want to be told, "yes! go ahead, do it... it's up to you, happy parent = happy child etc." but I can sense that some of you will tell me otherwise. All I really want are some opinions from people who have no emotional investment in it etc. So the facts are...

I moved to Kangaroo Flat (15 minutes drive out of bendigo) in May, a couple of months before I was due to have my baby who is now 7 months, to live with my nan. She has been very supportive in looking after Angus, but boy! can she grate on my nerves sometimes. By sometimes, I mean close to hourly. I only really get the chance for real life socialising when I'm in Melbourne (once a month if I'm lucky), otherwise it's the internet for me. That is because I just don't get along very well with the people that I've met here. I can do netschool here, finish year 12 (but I'm 19 on Wednesday and by the time I get to go to uni I'll be eligible as a mature age student anyway)... rent is more expensive in Melbourne, almost double the cost (still easily affordable) for maybe 1/20th of the size property.. my baby's dad also lives in Melbourne.

Simply, I've got my nan's help on a large level here, whilst down there it'd be a little bit of help from friends, siblings and baby's dad. I'm a city slicker, I hate living in the country. I don't know what is best for Angus (baby).

*Bendigo is a country town/city 2 hours drive from Melbourne, the city where I grew up.

x-posted

so baby's dad doesn't know jack about babies, he's still quite scared of holding the little one actually. Over the 5 months since Angus was born, daddy hasn't been around much for various reasons. So... are there any good books to get a clueless father with a 5 month old son on being a daddy?
