Description: Episode 125 of the California Academy of Sciences' television program Science in Action features guest scientist Dr. Robert C. Stebbins, of the University of California. Stebbins, the preeminent expert on western North American reptiles and amphibians, recently passed away and was best known for writing and illustrating A Field Guide to Western Reptiles and Amphibians (https://newscenter.berkeley.edu/2013/09/27/berkeley-reptile-and-amphibian-expert-robert-stebbins-dies-at-98/). This episode presents some of the only known footage of his early years, as he discusses camouflage mechanisms of animals from California and around the world.
