FATAL CRASH
A 16-year-old girl was killed when a Ford Explorer driven by a 14-year-old girl slammed into a tree on Bainbridge Island (WA)early today. There were eight teens in the car. Police spokeswoman Liz Lumsden says speed was a factor in the crash on rural Tolo Road about 2 a-m. She says the girl who died was not wearing a seatbelt. Her name was being withheld until family members are notified. Four 16-year-old boys were taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Three are in critical condition. Three teens -- a girl, a boy and the female driver -- were treated at Harrison Memorial Hospital in Bremerton and released. Three days ago, another teen died on island roads. Lumsden says the 19-year-old girl was the driver and sole occupant of the car. Police are investigating whether alcohol and speed were factors.
